  1. Yes, this. It's stupid for new ownership of any organization to just walk in with a slash and burn attitude before they are intimately familiar with the inner workings of that organization. It takes time to do that, so I have no issue with the wait and see approach right now. If things aren't going in a different direction a year from now, then yeah, fire everybody and start over. At least then it gets done with the appropriate knowledge of the organizational workings.
  2. Isn't DePo responsible for most of the draft picks/trades that brought in most of the current young talent the Dodgers have? Convenient he leaves that part out of the mention of the lack of success Beane's proteges have had.
  3. Wasn't that ball behind him a bit.
  4. Talking about the 2 right at the beginning? One was started out in front of the guy and the other I think it looked like he was more in the way than actually blocking him. He put his arms up like he was innocent anyway.
  5. More stupidity from KU... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/basketball/ncaa/10/03/morningstar.dwi.ap/index.html
  6. hater http://www.geocities.com/colosseum/park/5127/trophies.jpg What did Romo have to do with any of those again?
  7. Part of me feels bad for him but part of me is happy. How in the hell would that make you happy? Because he's in love with Robbie Hummel, remember?
  8. Is there any indication that he would? The only managing job he had was with a team that was rivaled in lack of healthy talent only by the 2009 Nationals.
  9. Looking at Wells' line up above, are there any other rookies who have performed as well as he has for as long this year? Does he deserve the ROY or is it going to Happ?
  10. I'd be reluctant to say that when Bradford is getting examined by Dr. Andrews.
  11. That Purdue TD may have been even worse defense than the Bears giving up that TD to Green Bay in week 1. Awful.
  12. I'm starting to think that after IU almost beat Michigan and then Wisconsin beat MSU, although that's not nearly as bad.
  13. I'd g go that way as well since Polamalu is out. With Welker out should I go Mark Clayton vs. SD or Lee Evans vs. TB?
  14. Soriano may not make a lot of plays, but at least he doesn't put it over the fence for the other team.
  15. Giants now up 7-1 on Colorado. It's on MLB Network if anybody cares.
  16. We're not catching them, so isn't it better that they take out some of the WC competition? Not that we have much of a chance at that either.
  17. Go look up the mascot for the schools in Polo, IL. Or if you're lazy, see spoiler. Let me know when you stop laughing.
  18. Hopefully they're just doing what the Cubs did last year, using up all their good fortune in the regular season only to tank in the off season.
  19. Apparently they don't have anybody besides Benn who can run more than 15 yards down the field and have a pass throw to them. That was the single most annoying thing watching that game. They never once took a shout down field. The coaching staff is awful based on the lack of adjustments made in game. Also, Gabbert is good. He's huge, fast and man did he make some really accurate throws, both from the pocket and on roll outs.
  20. Sounds like the Latin American Jeter to me!!
  21. So, uh, any particular reason for a team that's not scoring runs to have Sam Fuld in the lineup instead of Jake Fox? Or am I being unreasonable?
  22. Just found out I've got free tickets to the Illinois-Mizzou game tomorrow. Should be an interesting contest. I'm pretty excited to see what happens.
  23. I really think their biggest worry is going to be keeping Carpenter and Wainwright around when their deals are up. I have no idea when that is, but I'm fairly certain Wainwright is FA eligible after 2010 or 2011 and Carp's deal has to be up around the same time. You can have all the offense you want, but if the other team scores 6 runs a game you're screwed. And I don't think they've got anything worth getting excited about in terms of starters anywhere close to the majors. Of course if Duncan stays, all they need is a couple of guys like Daniel Cabrera and Jeff Weaver to show up and they'll have two cheap Cy Young candidates.
  24. Sosa had several years in the teens. I dont ever remember him dropping a ball though. I also never remember him making a good accurate throw. I don't think that's fair, really. I remember a few times Sammy nailed a runner at the plate. He did have a very good arm, and when it was accurate, it was deadly. Sammy wasn't the best outfielder I've ever seen, but he certainly wasn't a liability out there. exactly, he had a pretty good arm. It wasn't always accurate; but it's not like he was Jacque Jones out there, either. He had a good arm until he started hitting 60+ homers and then his arm was crap on top of the fact he had no idea where it was going. He was a very solid outfielder until probably about 98 or 99 when the glove was still good but the throwing wasn't.
  25. Wow, terrible argument for running by HCCF. I ran XC and track in high school and still run quite a bit today. The reason people don't run is because they're a bunch of lazy fat-asses or they prefer to be doing something while they're running. Like shooting a basketball or catching a football. I always loved running, but it certainly isn't something everybody can do well or even enjoy. It's not about whose tougher or crazier or anything. Different strokes for different folks.
