It's not a good rule. There hasn't been anyone that benefited from this rule either, as every head coach that's been hired certainly was qualified with or without the rule in place. And in an instance like this, where Harbaugh is a high-profile "get", why you HAVE to interview anyone else seems redundant to me. That said, the Fins know the rules and before pitching Harbaugh, they should have already made their "courtesy" interview. Of course, they also should have went ahead and fired their head coach before doing any of this stuff to begin with, so they get a big FAIL all around. Tomlin? Everything I've heard about that situation was that he really only did get the interview because of the rule. I really think they would have gone with one of the guys on staff (were Whisenhunt and Grimm still around then?) or somebody else because he kind of came out of nowhere.
