  1. Would you guys be willing to trade Kane plus other parts for Nash and his 7.8 million cap hit?
  2. In my really really bad Harry imitation "How can a guy named Soler lose the ball in the Sun?"
  3. HE DOESN'T HIT PEOPLE! I know you are probably being sarcastic. I do want to respond anyway. You do not have to be a big hitter to be a solid defensive forward. Their are plenty of cases in NHL history where scorers have also learned to be responsible defensive forwards without being becoming big hitters. I personally think that Kane could do a much better job defensively.
  4. MacDonald should have gotten assists on the first 2 Philly goals last night:)
  5. Ken Hitchcock is really good at making teams immediately better. He hasn't been that good at sustaining long term success with teams though.
  6. I really dislike the home win streak record the Wings just "tied"....just off the top of my head I can think of 4 games in that streak that they won in either OT or a shootout
  7. I barely even follow basketball, but I like to come in hear and stir the pot during Illinois games a couple of times a year.
  8. I wouldn't say that I am excited about this off season. I do however realize that it is probably the best long term strategy.
  9. The Hawks would have been much better getting Madden when he was still available than Burish. Right. It's got to be hard for Bowman to look at this roster right now and then look at who is available and pull the trigger. Unless he's going to make a huge move (trading a core player), how do we know how a guy (like Sutton, for example) is going to mesh and how much Q will trust him? Because the team looks pretty damn good on paper. I think Hal Gill is an obvious choice for the Hawks to try to get. I think another one that I do not hear rumored with the Hawks is Tuomo Ruutu. I think he is the type of gritty player the Hawks need on either of the top 2 lines, plus it would free Bolland up to center the 3rd line full time.
  10. The Hawks would have been much better getting Madden when he was still available than Burish.
  11. I wonder if Whitey Ford and Sandy Koufax would have made the Hall of Fame without pitching for World Champion teams? I think they probably would have but being on WC teams made it certain
  12. I think having 198 bowl games devalues the regular season much more than any playoff would
  13. next argument. New England had 2 TEs in their Hail Mary. A team whose top 3 WRs were outcasts from other bad teams just lost the Super Bowl. And the Giants were afraid to run their 2 min defense out against that team. If New England had a good defense I could see them being in the Super Bowl, but.........
  14. Yeah, I hate strategy in sports, too. Some strategy in sports is done because the product is crappy. Calling the NFL a crappy product is just plain old idiotic. a 9-7 team just won the Super Bowl.
  15. Yeah, I hate strategy in sports, too. Some strategy in sports is done because the product is crappy.
  16. Brady's going to score a TD there with 56 seconds left and 1 timeout maybe 10-20% of the time? I can't imagine teams missing what is an extra point more often that that even with the extra pressure. I think this whole not scoring a TD shows how crappy NFL has become.
  17. I watched some of last nights game this afternoon on comcast. Eddie O basically did the Hawkaroo silence treatment after the 8th goal and Edmonton put Gagner back on the ice
  18. a .900 OPS will probably restore any lost money
  19. I think you are right, but Keith and Hjalmarsson have regressed
  20. But you don't see anyone going after Sharp's wrist with Scott in the lineup
  21. The Hawks are going to make some moves at the deadline. They will finish somewhere from 1-5 seed. They will be one of four or five Western Conference teams with the ability to make a run to the Cup finals.
  22. For a fan base that claims that Illinois is a "Basketball" school, Weber's record at Illinois just has not been very good. At the end of Self's era and the first couple of years of Weber, Illinois was bordering on becoming an elite program. Since, Weber's recruits have taken over they have become a borderline tournament team at best. Not nearly good enough for a basketball school. Weber needs to be fired, there should not even be a debate.
  23. its pretty sad that a player is switching from Cal to Washington because an assistant coach.
  24. How do you eat it? With your hands?
  25. Outside of Chicago, fans probably aren't paying such close attention to his "terrible season". The fact that he's an American player certainly wouldn't hurt from a marketing standpoint. Add in the fact that lots of people couldn't name 3 hockey players after Ovechkin and Crosby all they'd really have to do is get ESPN to start showing him as their only hockey highlight of the day. Voila, he's the face of the NHL in America. That doesn't make him the best player but that doesn't stop Jeter from being the face of MLB (arguably) or Brady in the NFL. heck if Kane starts getting Crosby style officiating, that would be a huge upside for the Hawks. Hawks would be on the PP 5-6 times a game.
