  1. Should this be in green? He's a true freshman. You honestly think I believe he'd be a heisman candidate? You've been reading too many imb posts. The Golson love from ND fans has been a little thick
  2. Hope Golson is ready I'm less worried about Golson's readiness than about Kelly's being intelligent enough to play him - or anyone but Rees for that matter. Right. Golson would have been a heisman candidate if only his coach had been smart enough to play him. Should this be in green?
  3. I am still somewhat annoyed that a signing that probably would not even make miscellaneous signings has become a 2 page thread because Hill spent several seasons being bad with the Cubs. I need to let go of the past.
  4. how is it a bad thing? Hue Jackson was a loony. Because the next coach will be the team's eighth in 12 seasons. You can't keep having this kind of turnover with the coaching staff and expect to have any kind of success. After seven straight years of five or fewer wins, Cable gets fired. Hue Jackson takes over, gets them to a position where a win in the last game gets them into the playoffs, and now he gets fired. It's ridiculous. I think the new GM is just pissed that he has to keep hearing all this Tebow crap and is taking it out on Jackson for losing the last game that allowed the Broncos to stay in the playoffs.
  5. Does the new GM have real power? Maybe he wanted a new coach and better to do it sooner than later.
  6. ??? at minimum he took money and knew that his fellow teammates were throwing games. It is common knowledge that the trial was also fixed. I don't care one way or another about these guys making the Hall, but you have to admit that baseball was full of gambling and game fixing before 1920 and probably has been relatively clean of the problem since. I think players can easily see the punishment that the Black Sox and Rose received and probably quickly think that gambling on baseball is a real bad idea.
  7. Interested to see what happens when Thomas and Griffey get on the ballot in a couple of years. How can you justify voting Thomas and not Bagwell? I hope one of these era sluggers gets in somehow because I think that would slowly open things up for everyone else that deserves to be in there. It's a disgrace that people aren't voting for Bagwell just for playing in the wrong era. I think Bagwell will get in. Thomas has to. No question about Griffey. Until he stated getting hurt he was the ultimate 5 tool player. These guys were the elite of an era and the writers need to get off their high horse and if there is going to be a hall of fame, everyone of them should be in it. And while they're at it, let in Shoeless Joe and Charlie Hustle. It's time. Have you ever considered the reason gambling has basically been a non issue in baseball since 1920 is because of the lifetime ban that goes with gambling on games or throwing games? I understand it seems harsh, but I would bet that PEDs would quickly become a non issue if a lifetime ban from baseball was step 1 of punishment.(I am not advocating this but making the point) I would like to hear what some of the writers were thinking in voting in Larkin but not voting Trammell.
  8. MSU tripled his salary. That's a good reason to stay. The cost of being a competitive college program is going up.
  9. You know I have to agree with you. I noticed more than once that he was clearly biased. I wouldn't of course usually notice such a thing unless the shoe was on the other foot. That's how bad it was. I actually wouldn't care if there was something legit. Interference and too many men on the ice are like holding in football. All teams including the Hawks do it. Somehow whenever the Wings do it they are way worse than other teams. It is not just Wings/Hawks games, he does it in almost every Wing game that he does.
  10. It was the correct call, if not I am sure good ole Eddie Olcyzk would have made sure that all of the viewers understood that the Wings got away with something. NBC needs to stop letting Eddie do Wings games.
  11. MSU tripled his salary.
  12. I have read that this is basically Fehr using this issue to start re-establishing the unions power. I do not think they really against realignment. They just want more say. I also think this is a sign that a new CBA is going to be very difficult and would think the chances of a stoppage is probably higher than I expected.
  13. No disrespect, but it would really bother me if we lost Narduzzi to A&M. I have no illusions that MSU is a power program, but I would hardly consider doing the same job at A&M an upgrade...unless it is money. If that is the case than MSU should pay up to keep him.
  14. Everything else isn't quite absolute:)
  15. In my 45 yrs here on earth there is one steady rule that I have learned to live by...you are better off keeping your opinion to yourself when it comes to celebrity rape cases. Taking sides without actual evidence often makes you look foolish.
  16. They are great to watch also. They play a very entertaining style of hockey.
  17. I cannot find Shanahan's video explanation for this suspension. 7 games seems high, I wonder if Carcillo's injury plays into the length?
  18. Looking like the guy from Slapshot makes that gif all the better
  19. In real time I thought there was no way that was a catch and how did the ref possibly make that call. Than after watching the review I was hugely impressed that the ref made the correct call only to have it overturned. The whole sequence seemed bizarre. Michigan's kicker getting away with illegal procedure was odd also.
  20. So. The BCS is not designed to get the best teams in the games, it is designed to get the most money to the schools that already have the most money...including ND. It would be just as empty if Boise St was there. Thank goodness we got a 2nd team from the 3rd and 6th best conferences in this game then. that's what the system is designed to do. Michigan should go to a hurry up offense to change the tempo

  23. Illinois sucks at football and has for a very long time while Michigan and OSU have dominated their conference, that's probably why. I understand that. I am a MSU fan, we have probably been even worse than Illinois in my lifetime and we have a real rivalry with Michigan...but many of us MSU fans still cheer for Michigan and OSU in bowl games Really? I'm not a fan of either but in my mind Illinois has been worse. Seems like they've had an awful lot of 1, 2, 3 win seasons while MSU is usually at least mediocre. Illinois seems to be in a group with Minnesota, Northwestern, Indiana and Wisconsin as teams that where stuck at the bottom for a while in recent decades. MSU is also used to being 2nd fiddle in their own state, while Illinois probably feels like they should be among the big boys. I don't think MSU has been as bad as Illinois has been a few years, but we also have not been to the Rose Bowl in 25 yrs and that 1 is the only one of my lifetime. Illinois has been to 2 Rose Bowls and a Sugar Bowl since I have lived here. I would say that neither has been anything special in my lifetime.
