  1. The strangest thing about last night's game is that the Bulls' season offensive efficiency numbers actually went down. Their defensive efficiency, though, was hilarious last night as they held Memphis to a 68.1 offensive rating. As to what those numbers mean in real game contest, Memphis was limited to an average of one two-point basket every three trips down the court for the entire game. The league average Offensive Rating is 102.7 (which is a bit more than a basket every other trip, over a point per possession), and the worst offense in the league is at 90.6 for the year.
  2. Well, they did beat Tennessee, which ended up being the only one that really mattered in the grand scheme of things. i have a hard time assessing a team that lost to the colts and jaguars as a "good team" They weren't, but they were the next best team. That made the Bengals the obvious 6th best team.

  4. In perhaps the oddest move I've ever seen, Roger Mason played for the Wizards tonight without being listed on their roster. Referees didn't notice it until he made a shot and the scorekeepers didn't have him on the roster. They promptly ejected an incredulous Mason from the game, gave the Celtics two tech FTs, and the game resumed.
  5. I picture Thibs screaming at past game film all offseason.
  6. Looks as if the Bears will draft 19th.
  7. Rough NFL draft order for non playoff teams as of right now with two games yet to be decided: If home teams win: 1. Indianapolis 2-14 (.539) 2. St. Louis 2-14 (.592) 3. Minnesota 3-13 4. Cleveland 4-12 (.531) 5. Tampa Bay 4-12 (553) 6. Washington 5-11 (.476) 7. Jacksonville 5-11 (.500) 8. Miami 6-10 (.504) 9. Carolina 6-10 (.502 - If Arizona wins the SOS will bump them behind Miami) 10. Buffalo 6-10 (.520) 11. Kansas City 7-9 (.512) 12. Seattle 7-9 (.511 - If Seattle loses their SOS probably bumps them behind KC) 13. Dallas 8-8 (.464) 14. Arizona 8-8 (.476) 15. Philadelphia 8-8 (.488) 16. NY Jets 8-8 (.500) 17. Oakland 8-8 (.504) 18. San Diego 8-8 (.516) 19. Chicago 8-8 (.529) 20. Tennessee 9-7 Yes, Bears fans, that win cost them 6 spots in the draft order today. EDIT: Arizona won, so the Arizona/Seattle spots are right. If Dallas wins tonight, NY Giants get the 18th pick and Arizona-San Diego get bumped up one. Bears still draft 19th.
  8. My fantasy team set a league scoring record this week with 165 in a non-PPR. Unfortunately, last week was the last one that counted.
  9. Also, was it just me, or did Chris Paul look like he invested a bit heavily in the lockout twinkies?
  10. Heh, the Bulls play at the Staples Center twice before they play at the United Center once. EDIT: Also, this is the first time the Clippers have played at the Staples Center this year, but it's the Bulls' second game there.
  11. I realize that three games is hardly conclusive, but how long does Boston have to struggle this season before management decides to just blow it all up and go for the lottery? It already has to be getting to the point where they feel like a ton of things have to break right for them to have a shot at the conference finals, let alone winning the championship.
  12. To be fair, their other non con opponent is a Big East team...
  13. Somebody needs to let Brandon Paul know he's the worst offensive shooter on the team.
  14. Illinois' offense is entirely frustrating to watch when the "motion" becomes "everybody stand around and jack up threes and hope they go in".
  15. The thing that really works against Illinois in conference is that they catch PSU and Iowa just once each.
  16. If I were a Celtics fan overanalyzing a single game sample size, I'd be more concerned with the one that had Rondo and Bass having career games and still losing to the Knicks.
  17. So the Cubs traded a short-term player at peak value for three assets undervalued by traditional analysis but underrated according to advanced statistical projections? Sounds like the type of deal a young, stats-oriented front office would make with an old school, more traditional front office.
  18. Houston could still drop to the 4 seed if they lose to Tennessee next week and Denver beats Buffalo and Kansas City. So, whoever gets the wildcards in the AFC will be excited.
  19. The Cubs need hitters that make fewer outs. Power just simplifies the ability to score runs with fewer variables. Fielder is the kind of hitter that does both, which is nice.
  20. So...baseless speculation without any link to actual news, and without any link to actual Cub happenings. This is worthy of a thread now? It's a step below the old "BREAKING NEWS!!?!" threads.
  21. A couple of the early mock drafts I've seen have the Bears picking WR Michael Floyd in the first round. I'd be ok with that.
  22. And yet, the Cubs and their offseason moves are largely irrelevant to the White Sox and their offseason moves. There are fewer and fewer franchises these days run bafflingly poorly, and the Cubs making a baffling move hardly precludes comment on what has to this point been a terrible series of moves on the south side.
  23. Yeah, if everything breaks right for the Sox they're definitely looking at a .500 season next year.
  24. If the prospects do happen to be high end, I petition the thread title be changed to "Sean Marshall traded for Prospects + Travis Wood"
  25. The only other move they made was trading Santos for a prospect. It's not like they signed Reed Johnson to a 1.5 mil deal. Besides, we're really in no position to laugh at them as I'll be shocked if they don't finish with a better record than we do unless they have a massive all out fire sale. You may have missed it, but they completely overhauled their coaching staff as well.
