  1. I don't really even care about the Tebow thing, I'm just glad Pittsburgh lost, so no boring repeat Super Bowl.
  2. Lockout loss was bound to happen eventually, but a bit surprised Atlanta isn't the more tired team tonight.
  3. Paul is also a good slasher. His problem is that he thinks he's also a good shooter, and people will give him the shot every time.
  4. Ugh, have to get the rebound on a missed FT. Especially when the team shoots 80% from the line. Paul should be shooting nothing but dunks from here on out.
  5. A Brandon Paul 3 is never the shot you want. Even if it's open.
  6. Not often a shooting guard has a 10-11 shooting day.
  7. Ugh, all three point jumpers and turnovers. This is supposed to be the only gimme game you have, Illini.
  8. Bulls about to go 7-1 with wins over potential playoff teams Orlando, Atlanta, LA Lakers, LA Clippers, and Memphis. Atlanta again tomorrow, coming off back-to-back overtime games. They might be a little tired.
  9. And he's got a lousy slapshot too.
  10. A sliding Avs team? Have you seen what Colorado's been doing lately?
  11. I'd be perfectly content with Derrek Lees hitting and fielding. I see Rizzo as hitting for less average and more power than Lee. So, like Fielder.
  12. Just because I think Rizzo can be the combination of Fielders hitting and Derrek Lee's fielding, doesn't mean I'm overly high on him ...
  13. Actually, it's the third time Hoyer has acquired Rizzo. He was in the Boston organization when they drafted Rizzo.
  14. Sounds like Mark Grace..... Mark Grace with more power...possibly.
  15. I'd have to say that any time you can move a reliever for the #1 prospect in a top 10 system that fills your biggest positional need, you just go ahead and do it before the other managers veto the trade. But Jebadore took it a step further and stole a low-level intriguing strikeout pitcher, too.
  16. Yup, but correct me if I'm wrong, they got a couple other really nice prospects in that deal as well. But yeah I'm pretty sure Rizzo was the centerpiece. Adrian Gonzalez -> Red Sox Anthony Rizzo, Casey Kelly, Reymond Fuentes, Eric Patterson -> Padres
  17. @BruceMiles2112: Rizzo's line at Class AAA Tucson: .331/.404/.652 with 26 HR and 101 RBI. #Cubs @BruceMiles2112: Baseball America had named Rizzo the top prospect in the Padres system heading into 2012. #Cubs
  18. Holy crap I love this deal. I liked Rizzo before it was cool. :( I actually drafted him in a keeper league two years ago.
  19. I'd say we've only heard one side of this and innocent until proven guilty, but in the court of public opinion none of that crap matters, only the ability to leap to conclusions as fast as possible so you can say you came to it faster than someone else.
  20. It's actually applicable to the story though.
  21. Soler was always an offseason prize, he just wasn't as familiar as Cespedes from the start because of a Youtube video.
  22. Isn't Rodrigo Lopez just Chris Volstad's non-union Mexican equivalent? I suppose if you look only at ERA, then...sure?
  23. Overbay was around replacement level last year, I suppose that's his new level of ability? Of course we go by the standard rule veteran has bad year, DOOOOOOOM, guy under 27, breakout potential. Is this the part where you create a thin strawman so you can argue with yourself for a page? Lyle Overbay is 35, was below replacement level last year and most of it was hitting. He doesn't hit for power and doesn't field the position adequately anymore. He's not even a short-term option. He's a worse option than Jeff Baker. So Overbay fell off a cliff last year at the age of 34. Luckily Carlos Pena will only be 34 next year. Again, because every 34 year old is identical. Because Lyle Overbay has been a bad fielder for several years, it means Carlos Pena will magically become that at age 34. And since Lyle Overbay can't hit for any power, Carlos Pena will suddenly be rendered unable to hit home runs. It's a stupid comparison, because they're completely different players at this stage of their careers. Neither is a long term option. At least Pena has short term value in his power and fielding.
