  1. How about any DePaul team from the last 20 years? DePaul would occasionally beat the D1 cupcakes. Utah just lost to one by 31 at home. They may not win a D1 game this year.
  2. Also, Utah might be the worst major conference team in history this year.
  3. If Harvard wins tonight, they'll likely have an undefeated season. I mean, they won't win tonight, but it's all smooth sailing from here for them if they do, which makes me wonder how high pundits will rank them.
  4. Jerry Palm (the guy who tracks the RPI for CBS) posted his early season bracketology. That's a lot of Big Ten teams in the field.
  5. For now it's the same stuff, he just added the player data this week. He's planning on adding more stuff as extrapolating from game data gets more reliable. Paul is the 3rd worst shooter among all major conference players that get at least major ball usage (24% and up). Maniscalco and Leonard are both in the top 30 overall (including non-majors).
  6. If there's one thing to be learned from KP's player stats this year, it's that Brandon Paul has absolutely no business ever shooting a jump shot.
  7. Illinois just made 2 of their final 27 jump shots and won.
  8. That was another game last year's team definitely loses.
  9. If you can watch just the first 5 and the last 5, it'll be worth it.
  10. They played really well the last 3 minutes. Leonard and Paul especially. Have a feeling that their best ballhandler being their worst foul shooter is going to hurt eventually.
  11. @JohnGasaway: Brandon Paul is having success driving into the lane! Why didn't this happen until the 37th minute!
  12. I'll be OK, though, because if Loria ruins the franchise, they'll just move it somewhere else and give him another one.
  13. Between Santos for a soft-tossing AA potential 3 starter, Street for a PTBNL, and Francisco for 2/12, the closer market has cooled off a lot after the Bell/Papelbon signings.
  14. This is so weird...why would the Cubs even be bothering being involved when they're almost surely not going to match those years. And it's not like they can drive the bidding up any higher than the Marlins already have. What if the Cubs are offering significantly more AAV on a shorter contract? Like 4/$120 or 5/$150? Surely that'd keep them in the conversation. I could easily see the Cubs at 7/200 with the Marlins and Cards at 10/220-225. All are competitive offers.
  15. As of this morning, there are 14 remaining undefeated teams in Division 1: - Ohio State - Kentucky - Syracuse - Missouri - Marquette - Louisville - Indiana - Baylor - Xavier - Kansas State - Harvard - Illinois - Creighton - Murray State Of those, only Ohio State, Kentucky, Harvard and Murray State have realistic shots at going undefeated for the year, though.
  16. Yikes. Well, you had a nice season. Probably Bush/Barber unless Smith is out for Detroit, then Bush/Morris.
  17. It'd be kind of funny if spending a bunch of time pining after free agents only to see them go to Miami became a thing. Who do the Bears want next year that the Dolphins can take away? Was having this conversation earlier with a buddy at work. The Blackhawks do kinda miss Brian Campbell right now, even though they'll be glad to be rid of his contract in the long run. It'll really hit home when Vincent Jackson signs with the Dolphins in the offseason.
  18. You can track all the free agent signings here: http://espn.go.com/mlb/freeagents No info on the date of the signings, but it's pretty well laid out.
  19. How long has he been banned?
  20. No, there are only free agents and draftees. Trades are the kind of things that only happen in fantasy baseball. Seriously, though...if the Marlins land Pujols for 10 years and an NTC, the Cubs should immediately see what they want for guys like Hanley and LoMo, and see what they'll give for Garza/Z/Marmol (though they're probably not interested in Marmol after signing Bell).
  21. The Cubs have put offers for more AAV and less years out there. If Fielder and Pujols would rather more overall money for greater length, and there are teams out there willing to go that far, there's not a whole lot the Cubs can do about it except plan for other directions. Hence my curiosity, lol I'd imagine they'll explore trade options. With all the hitting the Marlins are allegedly signing, their rotation could still use some serious help. Maybe they're a candidate for a Garza, Marmol or Zambrano, and the Cubs could land Morrison and some long-term high-end prospects in exchange. Can someone explain the appeal of Morrison? I understand that he's young and cheap, but can't we do better than an 800 OPS from a corner OF spot? What's his ceiling? He's just 23 and he's already hitting 25 HRs. He's not Mike Stanton, but he's undervalued by the Marlins' front office and can probably be procured for less value than he's actually worth because the Marlins don't like his attitude and twitter account. EDIT: From Keith Law: Heck, shoot for Hanley Ramirez while they're at it, too, see if you can get some kind of buy low deal coming off a down year, and put him at 3rd.
