  1. he would have been the best pf of all time instead of the best c? What if he'd been 5'11". Then you've got yourself a superstar. You remember Khalid El-Amin's career very differently than I do. I was thinking for a good comp for a 5'11" Shaq, but was drawing a blank. That's the one, right there.
  2. It's not a bad rule. Really, at that point you're only eliminating 3 of the top 10 players of all time. Probably.
  3. @TheFakeESPN: Brian Urlacher retires from NFL as Brett Favre's all-time leading receiver.
  4. Urlacher played 3 more games for the Bears than Singletary, 63 more than Butkus.
  5. Yep, spent 5 days so far out of town I didn't have cell service, let alone data.
  6. Corsi numbers from today are hilarious.
  7. 4.8 in 2011 was as close as he's come since. Bumgarner was 4.7 in 2011 also.
  8. Teams' last home grown (drafted by and played for them) 5+ WAR pitcher: Tigers - Justin Verlander (2012) White Sox - Chris Sale (2012) Rays - David Price (2012) Reds - Johnny Cueto (2012) Dodgers - Clayton Kershaw (2012) Angels - Jered Weaver (2011) Phillies - Cole Hamels (2011) Blue Jays - Ricky Romero (2011) Marlins - Josh Johnson (2010) Rockies - Ubaldo Jimenez (2010) Mariners - Felix Hernandez (2010) Red Sox - Jon Lester (2010) Royals - Zack Greinke (2009) Giants - Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain (2009) Diamondbacks - Brandon Webb (2008) Padres - Jake Peavy (2007) Orioles - Erik Bedard (2007) Indians - CC Sabathia (2007) Astros - Roy Oswalt (2007) Yankees - Chien-Ming Wang (2007) Cubs - Carlos Zambrano (2006) Pirates - Kris Benson (2004) Brewers - Ben Sheets (2004) Twins - Brad Radke (2004) Nationals - Javier Vazquez (2003) Athletics - Barry Zito, Mark Mulder, Tim Hudson (2003) Rangers - Kenny Rogers (2002) Braves - Kevin Millwood (1999) Mets - Dwight Gooden (1985) Cardinals - John Denny (1978)
  9. Multiple Davis' in this group. Please specify. Chris Davis.
  10. Rizzo's contract is completely irrelevant to Vogelbachs development or value to the organization. Does anyone really think that Hoyer took one look at Rizzos signature and thouht welp we're done here. Time to trade the rest of our 1b prospects.
  11. I imagine a June or July promotion to Daytona is very likely. Why, do the Cubs want to rest his arm after May?
  12. Wood is one of only two pitchers in baseball to have pitched a quality start in every start so far this season.
  13. The cleanup hitters for the three first place AL teams are Vernon Wells, Nick Swisher and Adrian Beltre.
  14. And to think all this ignorance could have been spared had he just actually read the article he commented on.
  15. The choices were Detroit or a San Jose team that swept Vancouver. The hot team is San Jose. Yeah, this is clearly the better matchup. Plus the rivalry factor should make for fun television. And some fun misery porn by reading the other teams message boards after a Hawks win. Though that swings both ways. I'm happy with it. San Jose hot though, after dispatching the biggest choke-meisters in the NHL? Nay! Yeah, I'd hate to be playing any team in the second round coming off a series victory.
  16. And 1/3 as good Yeah...no. And even if he were just 1/3 as good as Votto this season (not even close), Votto's locked up to his age 39 season, at which point he might just be 1/3 as good as Rizzo at 31. Which the article explicitly says. Which means you didn't even try to read it.
  17. Rob Neyer on Rizzo contract Synopsis: Cubs locked up Rizzo for same time frame Reds locked up Votto, except Rizzo is 7 years younger and they're getting him for 1/3 the price.
  18. The choices were Detroit or a San Jose team that swept Vancouver. The hot team is San Jose.
  19. Well, Detroit is a puck control, finesse team like the Blackhawks, except about 10 years older. Plus, Detroit doesn't employ Raffi Torres, so the Hawks can hopefully avoid a playoffs-ending injury to a top line player.
  20. So the Cubs are paying Castro and Rizzo a combined 100 million through 2020?
  21. Only my team could have a perfect game through 5 with our ace on the mound against their #5 starter and then blow it on a botched double steal for a guy with no knees. #ifiwereanatfan
  22. Dempsey with a goal and assist today as Spurs win at Stoke 2-1
  23. Yeah, they're in Europa playoffs automatically now.
