  1. something something blind squirrel something something nut. So is David the blind squirrel and cubbyvirus is the nut?
  2. Reading the article that he's gone 10 minutes ago. That's just sad. Ignorance is bliss, I guess. No, bliss is no longer having to watch Marmol pitch. He certainly had some good years (2007-2010) but he has run his course in Chicago. I won't miss him and if that means I'm "ignorant" then so be it. The Cubs employed one of the best relievers in baseball with the most ridiculous slider ever, and the only thing that you enjoy about it is him being released? That's just ignoring anything that happened more than a year ago (and the textbook definition of ignorant).

  4. Best Marmol memories? I know at the end of 2007, he had a 2 inning, 5K performance against the Brewers to hold them off for the division (I think he actually pitched the 6th and 7th and got the win). Crazy numbers in 2007.
  5. As much as Marmol was maligned, he was really awesome from 2007 to 2010.
  6. You are the one who came into the playoff hockey thread the morning after a Stanley Cup win trying to convince everyone how irrelevant hockey is. I'm really not. I just had to take issue with that statement because playoff baseball is [expletive] awesome and I won't stand to see it take a back seat to anything. Wrong fight, wrong day, man.

  8. #5 Nadal and #11 Wawrinka already out of #18 John Isner's quarter now.
  9. Balotelli out with a torn quad. There goes the interest level in the Spain-Italy semi.

  11. Man, the US defensive marking was just awful.
  12. Wheels came off at the end of the half, now down 3-0.
  13. If anything, I take it as more of a sign of the Cubs' awful prospect development than a sign of how low the hit% is on highly touted Cub position prospects.
  14. Law is right, though, the easiest way to get a job in baseball is by playing pro baseball.
  15. Now where it could really get ugly is Uruguay-Tahiti if Uruguay draws v Nigeria.
  16. Good things for Tahiti: - Well, their keeper did have more saves than Spain's keeper...
  17. Over. Over/Under on Spain's possession at 85%, what do you take?
  18. Have we really seen a weak glove hand from Crawford, consistently? I was confused by that. Doesn't seem to match up with what I've seen from him. Not that he's the world's greatest, but that was terrible. No, it was just a bad night from Crawford. He gets one, and the Hawks didn't even lose.
  19. I mean, Crawford was off, Leddy didn't play, Hossa was a non factor, the rest of the D was tired and/or terrible, and the Hawks still managed to score six goals and win.
  20. Both teams had equal amounts of pressure. I think the home atmosphere and crowd made Boston's chances seem bigger and more frequent. It was a very even game. No it wasn't, statistically. Hawks were just bad on the PK and left too many open shots on rushes coming back at them. I don't know stats for scoring chances it just seemed like it was even or in Boston's favor. I see shots were 47-33 Hawks. Chara, Marchand and Seguin were -3. So was Hammer. Rozsival, Keith and Bickell were +3. It only seemed that way in here because 75% of the people in this thread this week thought the series was over already and the Hawks are outclassed.

  22. Y'all are out of your [expletive] minds. The Hawks dominated this game. Out chanced them almost 2 to 1, and only a tired/bad defense kept it close.
  23. [expletive] all the haters. And yes, the Hawks were playing a man down for about 50 minutes.
  24. Great article analyzing the US attack from last night: http://www.americansoccernow.com/articles/united-states-beats-the-bunker-to-defeat-honduras
  25. Of course, since I said that, Mexico has actually controlled play pretty well and kept it in the offensive zone.
