  1. Ian Stewart's twitter feed has been taken over by a robot. BeefStew2 ‏@IAN_STEWART_2sc 12m I am focused on getting back to the big leagues and am working everyday to make that happen. BeefStew2 ‏@IAN_STEWART_2sc 12m I let my frustrations get the best of me and in no way want to be a distraction. BeefStew2 ‏@IAN_STEWART_2sc 12m I want to apologize to the entire Cubs organization for my comments on twitter .
  2. I was just figuring he was referring to some obscure 28-year-old white OF playing in the Dominican league that deserves a flier as a 4th OF.
  3. Today we see if anyone besides a Cub pitcher can get a hit the first time through the lineup for the first time in a week. Baby steps.
  4. Why did I think today was the 11th? Damn, another entire day to worry about ways to blow the chance to put the qualification away.
  5. Big three points tonight (and three more next week) to put some distance between the top and bottom of the hex. First place currently 7 points (Costa Rica, US, Mexico) with Panama at 6 points and Honduras at 4. I expect Honduras to win tonight (effectively burying Jamaica at 6th), so 5th place isn't so far away with a slip up. One of USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama won't make it, and right now Panama and Honduras seem to be in the worst shape overall based on road performance and schedule to this point.
  6. Baseball, more so than any other sport, should never have draft grades for teams immediately after the draft. Makes no sense to draft for need, 90% of the draftees will never see an MLB field, and 90% of those won't see the field for 3 years. An actual semi-useful grading would be something like analyzing a team's 2008 draft this year.
  7. And...exhale.
  8. Looked like he was initially going to pass it forward, saw a US player (Dempsey?) in his line, then was going to pick up the ball, realized he couldn't, and ran out of time to do anything else.
  9. Never go full meatball.
  10. You're overreacting. Is he or is he not worthless right now? He brings NOTHING. You're right, you're overreacting badly.

    Week 10

Alonso finally to the DL, so I can pick up another 1B, so I picked up LaRoche. Question: can I insert him right away, or do I need to wait for the week (I have fill-ins right now)?
  12. When the alternatives are Borbon or DeJesus, there isn't much to lose.
  13. Once again, Aramis fan pops in to spew crap about Barney, Garza, and all the good vibes being gone, and then disappears as soon as things turn around.

    Week 10

    Correct.

    Week 10

BTW, Tim and Jeff, the pointless bickering session that's been happening in chat the past few days is CBS's chat software's fault, since apparently Jeff didn't get one of Tim's chat lines. Of course, conspiracy of malicious intent is far more complicated and makes the moronic pride argument seem plausible, so either way I suppose.

    Week 10

Michael Young off the bereavement list, back into my lineup in place of Yonder Alonso, who apparently can't hold a bat but won't go to the DL.
  17. Worst. Hat. Ever.
  18. Finally saw video of the game yesterday, and man, the German keeper looked bad on several occasions. That first goal was gorgeous, though.

    Week 10

I took Reddick off the DL and dropped Konerko, because even when Konerko was healthy, he didn't look healthy.
  20. Sure, there needs to be some kind of penalty for not keeping your roster legal.
  21. That may have been the first time all series that the Kings developed a good offensive play without the aid of a weird bounce.
  22. So much for that. Illinois gives up 4 in the 9th and trails 6-3 in the bottom of the 9th.
  23. Illinois has basically 3 good hitters and a good freshman pitcher in Duschene. They're now 3 outs away from forcing Vandy to beat them again to win the regional (they'd have needed to hold on against Vandy yesterday to have a real shot at actually winning the regional, but they aren't in Vandy's league at this point).
  24. And just like that, Haas broke back and they're on serve again in the 5th.
