  1. The Cubs' hitting has been just miserable against the Pirates this season.
  2. Flyers sign Ray Emery for 1 year, $1.65 million, which...puts them over the projected salary cap by 1 million even after all the salary dumping they did.
  3. Late afternoon start against the best team in the majors.
  4. Well, that I was not expecting.
  5. But the Dodgers didn't sign him "out of nowhere;" other teams were interested and were willing to spend big money. The only "out of nowhere" part were people on the outside looking in with relatively minimal information who were just wrong. The teams involved apparently had a much better idea of who he was/is. That is an argument framed around hindsight, though. It worked out, so the Dodgers knew what they were doing, obviously.
  6. No, because that's a stupid thing to do in a high-offense game in the 6th inning?
  7. Week 14

    Because it's week 14 now.
  9. So to this point... Cubs bonus pool $4,557,000 Cubs add from Astros +$ 784,000 Cubs add from Orioles +$ 388,000 ================================== $5,729,000 Cubs give Dodgers -$ 209,000 ================================== $5,520,000 Cubs sign Torres -$1,700,000 Cubs sign Mejia -$ 850,000 ================================== Remaining IFA Budget: $2,970,000
  10. That's a rhetorical question, right?
  11. One thing I didn't notice (because who notices doubles tennis?), but the Bryan brothers have now won the 2012 Olympic gold, the 2012 US Open, the 2013 Australian Open, and the 2013 French Open, so are just a Wimbledon victory shy of the Golden Slam, and if they can win Wimbledon and the US open this year, they'll be the first doubles team to win the Grand Slam in the Slam era.
  12. Damn it, twitter. Four then, and the fourth is also mind boggling.
  13. Those are the three.
  14. 3 pitchers so far this season have pitched multiple shutouts. Who are they?
  15. The trajectory on that ball was insane. There was no way that shouldn't have been a goal.
  16. :( Dusty just had to finish the job, didn't he.
  17. Damn it, Ghana.

  19. Tsonga is out too. It's just Murray and nobody.
  20. Brazil-Uruguay 1-1 midway through the second half. Forlan missed a penalty in the 14th minute, but Brazil has had the better of play overall.
  21. Yes, the relegation should do wonders for Columbus's outlook.
  22. something something blind squirrel something something nut. So is David the blind squirrel and cubbyvirus is the nut? Well, this is awkward. I thought we were cool. I was looking for a way to bring it back around to cubbyvirus being crazy, since he repeatedly gave up on the Hawks all year after giving up on the Bears every week all year. You were simply collateral damage in the joke.
