  1. Did have the 6 game win streak with the middle 4 games all won by 6 or more runs.
  2. Everytime I expect shootout. It's a 3-2 game. This time, that won't happen. Cubs 1-4 should kill Estes. The lefties at the top of the Padres order should hit Marquis well. The key will be whoever turns the lineup over best at the bottom.
  3. You mean Tennessee? Uh yeah....
  4. Perry has a history of getting his teams near the top of the league in BB/9, P/PA, etc. He preaches patience. I still think a lot has to do with Fukudome, though. I think the entire team respects him from his numbers in Japan and his time in the World Baseball Classic. He is the model of patience, and puts up great numbers this way. I think the others have taken notice. I will give Perry complete credit for the young guys like Cedeno, Soto, and Theriot being more patient in 2008 than they have ever been in any other point in their careers. I think you can tell with Pie too, but he's just not as good of a hitter to let the patience work in his favor. His patience leads to him taking strikes and then pitchers being able to exploit his weaknesses (i.e. breaking ball in the dirt).
  5. It's amazing what command can do. You don't have to throw hard, be deceptive or have a nasty out pitch if you can put the ball exactly where you want it. Cliff Lee has been able to do that this year. He won't continue to be this good, but he'll likely finish with those 20 wins and ERA under 3.
  6. The NBA playoffs have been odd. I've never seen teams play so differently at home and on the road. Officials are making a huge difference in these series.
  7. Best game by far of Tyler Colvin's young career. 12 for his last 34. Hopefully he can stay hot this time. He has some crazy home/away splits and Daytona is supposed to be one of the best parks for pitchers in that league.
  8. Z leaves with a 9-run lead and his ERA goes up.
  9. Marlins lose. Cubs 3 innings away from a 3-way tie from best record in baseball.
  10. Dusty did that once. Who says lightning can't strike twice?
  11. Cubs should try to bat around at least twice every game.
  12. Will Zambrano throw a no-hitter or hit for the cycle first. I'm convinced he will one day do both.
  13. Yes! 5-run lead. We're in Marmol territory now, folks!
  14. I'm sold on his ability to put up a good OBP. I don't but that his slugging can stay where it is, at all. yeah, his OBP is very batting average dependent, and he's not gonna hit .330 all year. probably can be somewhere around .290/.350/.390 though. His BB rate is a lot better this year. .109 per PA not including tonight. He was at .083 last year.
  15. Ryan Theriot may be just be a decent player.
  16. I don't know why I'm all about the Jays/Indians tonight, but the Blue Jays have played 17 innings today and scored a grand total of 0 runs.
  17. vs. Arizona. Probably 04. He gave up an IF hit on a play where the batter was actually out, missed call by 1B ump. He ended up getting all the of the other 26 outs which woulda been a no-hitter, before giving up a solid hit.
  18. I'm thinking it too, but DON'T SAY IT Shhhhh Bastages. That's what happens when you even bring it up.
  19. Lyle Overbay just lined into a triple play, as Toronto's offense continues to suck.
  20. you spelled God wrong, and didn't capitalize the "G"
  21. I don't take anymore pleasure in you losing than I do anyone else in my division. It would be interesting to see you and Tim become sellers, because you guys have some good guys to sell.
  22. I wouldn't have minded seeing him walk. Robbie doesn't kick off worth a crap, and while he's got a nice FG%, he either can't kick long ones or the coaching staff doesn't let him kick long ones. They never seem to take a chance on 48+ yard kicks. He wasn't any good in 2005, he had a very nice percentage in 2006 and was just above average in 2007. Nothing special. Hopefully it's extremely team friendly. Agreed. He's just an OK kicker. He was great in 06, but still didn't hit the long ones. Should never spend big money on a kicker, even if it's Adam Vinateri.
  23. Whatever bat you want. But the pitcher is throwing his normal stuff. I guess you can get a couple extra strikes or something. I think I could hit an average to below major league curveball. I was always a good curveball hitter. A fastball over 82 usually had me swinging late though.
