  1. Sucks that an injury forced the move, but it was the right one a long time ago. Now, Lou just has to actually put Ascaino in a game on a consistent basis. I feel bad for Fox, and I hope he catches on with another team, but I hope we've seen the last of him in a Cub uniform.
  2. no, just makes me want to kill edmonds It is pretty disgusting. My initial thought, is what is he doing celebrating with our players!
  3. So, much better being on this end of that catch.
  4. Be nice to get all those guys in full season baseball throwing well. Hernandez and Rhee are probably the 2 best low minors pitching prospects. Pawelek still has a ton of upside.
  5. Lineout to 1B. Groundout to 1B. Flyout LF Flyout RF Bunt groundout to P Groundout to 2B. Reached on Error (Groundball to 2B) Flyout CF Groundout to 1B Lineout to SS. * in reverse order.
  6. If it makes it easier, you could treat Edmonds like all the MLB video games treat Bonds. Make up a hilarious fake name with the same number (I believe MLB games referred to Bonds as Reggie Stocker). LOL. I always liked PLAYER and then the number. I remember Jordan was PLAYER-23 on NBA games after he got his own. Edmonds could be PLAYER-15. The Bill Parcells treatment. Parcells did refer to Terry Glenn as "she"......Do I really need to finish this thought considering we are talking about Edmonds?
  7. Oswalt is not that good. And the Cubs have had success against him and faced him a ton. I'd be more confident if Oswalt was going. Hate facing Wandy and Backe though. But yeah, Moehler, Sampson, Chacon should be beatable.
  8. Man I ended up with 385+ in my other league. And that was with Furcal starting all week at SS. I wanted 400 so bad. If Zambrano didn't screw up on Saturday, I woulda been there too. We can only make changes before the games start on Monday, and we have unlimited starts.
  9. I thought I was gonna have a lot less time than I actually wound up having.

  11. I think so. But he could still be traded, I'd guess, unless he got a no-trade clause. I'd look to trade him if I could get a young 1B, C or SS (if Brignac doesn't pan out).
  12. Strange year so far. A lot of parity. Only 1 team within 100 points of the leader. Only 4 teams within 200 points, though nobody has been dominant at all. Scoring seems generally down this year, as typical high scoring teams are well down the list on points (NSBB, GHS) and several top players haven't put up the numbers expected of them (Arod, Fielder, Howard). But that may just be my perception.
  13. one of only two matchups this week of teams with winning records. I get ARod back for the full week and I get two starts out of Lackey and Verlander. Last year that would have been incredible, but I'm not quite sure what to expect this season. I like my two start pitchers, Hamels, coming off of a CG SHO and Lilly who has pitched well recently. Of course, watch Brett Myers remember how to pitch this week on my bench.
  14. His newfound patience (.151 BB/PA is amazing) will allow him possibly to have his best year ever when all is said and done. When he starts hitting HRs in his typical every 16 or so ABs, he may flirt with a 1.000 OPS. Almost 2 months in, I don't think his patience is a fluke, where it has been shown his lack of power may be.
  15. According to Len during today's broadcast, Lou was toying with the idea of sitting Lee on Wednesday to give him an extra day off, especially now that Hoffpauir is up and can fill in fine at 1B defensively. This is correct. Lee will sit Wednesday in order to get 2 full days off. Lou has been wanting to get him a rest, but Ward has been incapable of playing the field (moreso than usual with a healthy back).
  16. Tejada is hitting those singles nearly 35% of the time he comes to the plate though. Also, I should point out that Tejada does have a .212 ISOP at home this year. That's well over his career ISOP and if he played 162 games where this series is going to be played, it would be the 2nd best power season of his career. Also, Pence is OPS'ing 1.021 in May so far and of course, has also hit much better at home. You're kidding yourself if you think the Astros only have 2 legit threats, especially in Minute Maid.
  17. He has hit more than 35 HRs twice in 4 full seasons as a Cub. That doesn't include him hitting 31 in '05 while missing almost 30 games. Nor does that include his 15.5 HR/AB (39 over 600 ABs) after he became a Cub in '03. He clearly has 35-40 HR power. I wouldn't say there is much concern yet as he was hit on the wrist, but nothing was broken or damaged to zap his power.
  18. I don't understand what Sean has to do to have a good start. He gave up a few warning track flies, but only 1 was hit hard. Dude is 22 all season long. I'm going to be excited anytime he doesn't completely crap the bed. In his first game, he had great movement and his stuff was on point. He showed a great K rate and this all in his 1st ML start getting knowledge of this start about an hour before he took the mound. Friday, his fastball was a lot straighter, but he was able to throw his offspeed stuff for more strikes. His K totals were down. But he pitched well without his best, which is the best sign for a young pitcher, IMO. Everything is relevant. Had Ted Lilly pitched the 2 games with the results Gallagher got, they would have been 1 horrible start and 1 decent start. Given Sean's age, level of experience, etc.... I think they were 1 decent and 1 pretty good start. Gallagher shouldn't be held to the same level of scrutiny just yet as one of the more veteran pitchers.
  19. Wow, that's a great OF. If it's NOT a keeper league, I'd trade Upton of that group. Adam Dunn hasn't gotten hot enough to get full value for and the rest of your OF stuff a lot of stat categories. If it is a keeper league, you might want to think about trading Sizemore for a top player at another position.
  20. I was offered this trade in a roto keeper league. I don't like Thome, so I countered, but this isn't a bad trade if Quentin is for real. What do you guys think?
  21. Big game to start the series. The Cubs have hit Moehler well, best of all Jim Edmonds who has the most ABs against him. Moehler has made just 2 starts and has gone 5 innings, 80 pitches for both. So, there's a clear threshold there and the Cubs should be able to get in Houston's pen to start the series. Lilly has great numbers against Tejada, Lee and Berkman, but I worry about him in that park with the short LF porch and him being a flyball pitcher. He likes to pitch inside to RH hitters, and the Crawford boxes may limit that and take away a strength of his. In 1 career start in Houston (as a Blue Jay), Lilly gave up 3 HRs in 6 innings. Lilly has had good control again this year, and Houston doesn't walk much. So, that will be a key.

  23. And Felix draws a 5-pitch walk. Eric Patterson is 3-4, and at 3rd with the go-ahead run in a scoreless game in the 7th.
