  1. I'm curious how this will compare to OOTP, but I don't expect anywhere near the same features.
  2. Reading this article only makes me wonder what potential gems of insight we would get from a Rosenbloom & Murph show. Somewhere in radio hell, that show is playing 24/7.
  3. So how did the Cubs determine who to include in the 13 game offer? I bought the 9 game plan last year, but didn't get any emails this year.
  4. Even without assuming a Peavy trade, this makes the Cubs better. They got probably as much value out of Pie as they possibly could have. It does make the Cubs better right now, since Pie had no place on the roster, but that's not what Rob was saying. Lou never gave Pie an extended opportunity to prove himself one way or the other.
  5. You will need to download the free Windows Media Encoder software and setup the encoding task. Somewhere in the options you can choose the internal port number and you will need to remember this port. I have my encoding task scheduled to start encoding automatically at 8am M-F. From there, you will need to login to your router settings and find the "Virtual Server" option. You will need to enter your internal IP address for the PC that you're streaming from, and then the private port is the one that you chose to stream to in Windows Media Encoder. For the public port, you will probably want to choose 80, since that is rarely blocked. Once you have that setup and running, you can open the URL in Windows Media Player (using your external IP this time), for example "http:\\xx.xx.xxx.xx:80". Hopefully that helps, but I'm sure I left some details out, so feel free to send me a PM if you have any more questions.
  6. I thought about trying Gameday Audio on my cellphone at work, since I can't get AM radio reception and they block most websites. Instead I setup a radio at home with a line in to my PC that streams audio to an external IP. If the Cubs are playing, I just turn my radio on WGN before I leave for work in the morning and then open the IP through Windows Media Player at work... works like a charm!
  7. I can go along with this plan for season tickets, since the waiting list is so long that people at the end won't reach the front for several lifetimes, but I have a philosophical problem with individual game tickets being distributed based on a subscription/point system. Raise ticket prices all you want, but don't make me pay for the "right" to buy tickets.
  8. I don't see where this has been discussed, but it doesn't sound like a good thing for the average fan. It looks like Sam Zell trying to squeeze every penny out of the team before the sale is complete. Here is a link to the full article. http://cubtown.baseballtoaster.com/archives/1187307.html
  9. The BCS has ruined college football for me. New Years Day used to be a day to set aside and watch football all day long, but now the games are stretched out over weeks and it's just too much.
  10. I'm a Dish Network subscriber and also have basic Comcast cable along with my internet service. I was thinking about upgrading to digital cable service in order to get MLB Network, but the Comcast rep told me that it is only on the Digital Classic tier and above, which would cost $75/month. So much for MLB Network being on the basic tier...
  11. I don't know if he is more or less reliable than any other source, but I do know that he sure is wrong a lot.
  12. I sure hope Kaplan is wrong. This would leave the Cubs with absolutely no power off the bench. Hoffpauir has to be there in the Daryle Ward role.
  13. the beauty of DirecTV is that for the 4+ years I've had it, I've never had to deal with the channel controversies. Big Ten Network, NFL Network, MLB.....all part of the standard lineup. DirecTV >>>>>>>>>> Dish when it comes to sports. No comparison.I can't deny that, but I'm extremely hesistant to switch to Direct TV and give up my dual-tuner 622 receiver. Dish Network's superior equipment is really the only thing they have going for them.
  14. I would be looking forward to it, except that I'm a Dish Network subscriber and probably have little chance of seeing the new channel added...
  15. Uhhhh... do they practice that? nice texas leaguer there.
  16. Can anyone remember the Bears ever recovering an onside kick? I can't, and certainly not since Gould has been here.
  17. Maybe this is why I'm not a football coach, but that 4th and inches with the game on the line would have been great time to run play action and throw to the end zone.
  18. 36 to 20 It's like the 3rd or 4th week in a row that we've been absolutely killed on TOP. This team has actually played some of its worst football in the last month or so. And I don't think it can be attritubed to the offense this time. I put the blame squarely on the defense for not being able to get off the field.
  19. What are the time of possession numbers? It sure seems like the defense has been on the field almost the entire game even though the Bears offense really hasn't been all that bad.
  20. This defense is terrible.
  21. I like Robbie Gould, but it would be nice to have a kicker who doesn't force the Bears to punt every time from the opposing 35-40 yard line.
  22. That would be nice if Wood can stay healthy and productive and come back to finish off his career with the Cubs... although hopefully that is still quite a few years away.
  23. He's a Sox fan If I were a Coke fan and bought the Pepsi company, I would probably convert to a Pepsi fan pretty quickly.
  24. Don't worry, you're much better off that way.
  25. I'm still holding out hope that Maddux will decide to return for one more season and take a shot at passing Warren Spahn on the wins list. Although Maddux is now just a reliable 5th starter at best, I still love watching the guy pitch.
