    He still could have been out of that inning with the lead if we have a real shortstop. I realize it was only one occasion, but Randy Wells seemed to be ok escaping a 3-error inning with only 2 runs. The defense may not have helped Zambrano, but he shouldn't completely fall apart whenever something bad happens. and there has been times when Z has pitched through it as well. There have been occasions when he has pitched through trouble, but he melts down more than he should. He is outstanding at times, bue he is simply not a reliable pitcher.

    Okay, so I'm guessing they'll play next week. Good. Knee sprain could potentially be a torn ACL. Those are usually initially diagnosed as knee sprains.

    I hope Hester proves me wrong, but I would rather have Manning out there running straight up the field and getting the Bears good field position. Hester is going to run in circles and end up somewhere around the 23 yard line.

    Lovie has never been one to make effective use of challenges. He makes a lot of "desperation" challenges that have little chance of success.

    You forgot McBride, and if his injury means more Nathan Vasher then it is a very bad thing.

    I was also wondering what is going on. I just got home from the series in Pittsburgh and saw Fox get all of one at-bat, while Scales continues to play. Is Fox in Lou's doghouse for some reason?

    It's not like Harden's under contract for next year...or has pitched more than 150 innings since 2004. I'm of the opinion that letting Harden go would be a mistake. He's a legit ace. I disagree. In addition to having great stuff, a true ace has to be a reliable innings-eater. Harden has the stuff, but his injury history makes him far from reliable.

    The decision to trade Harden really has nothing to do with next year. It's about whether Minnesota can offer a package of prospects more valuable than 2 compensation picks.
