  1. On the bright side, my AC/DC floor tickets at All-State arena on October 30, which I was afraid would conflict with Game 7 of a potential World Series, are apparently safe.
  2. At least they won a championship lately I'd rather be championshipless and not be a slackjawed mulleted freak. Not me I'll start growing the mullet now if it helps.
  3. I don't know if you could get rid of Soriano's contract for Neifi Perez.
  4. Oh [expletive]. Here comes Howry with the bases loaded.
  5. He did. I have been critical of Zambrano, but he gave us all he had tonight and deserved better.
  6. I don't know what can be done, but something needs to change for next year... 97 wins are meaningless and this is ridiculous.
  7. Well, it has got so bad that we're getting pity calls now.
  8. I hope you can wait until April to hear that again.
  9. Last night I was disappointed... and tonight I'm just getting angry. Here comes the Zambrano implosion.
  10. The Cubs are teaching us life's greatest lesson... don't ever get your hopes up for anything, because you will surely be disappointed.
  11. Yeah, booing your own players during a playoff game is dumb dumb dumb. I agree completely. I'm as frustrated with Soriano's playoff performance as anyone, but I still realize that he isn't trying to strike out and nothing good can come out of booing him. Trying to send a message in the regular season is one thing, but now isn't the time for that. The playoffs are a time to embrace and root for the Cubs for what they are, accepting their flaws and hoping they can overcome them.
  12. Maybe Stockton has really small feet.
  13. Comcast Sports Net post-game poll - 55.7% of fans believe that we will see "Too emotional Z" tomorrow.
  14. Based on Derek Lowe's post-game comments, I expect him to start Game 4 on short rest if the series goes that far. I was hoping to get a shot at Maddux, but it doesn't appear that will happen.
  15. I don't see any reason to be optimistic about Z. Not saying that nothing good can happen, but there's no real reason to feel happy about it. I'm scared of what we will see from Zambrano tomorrow and I would actually feel most comfortable with Lilly going tomorrow... but let's hope for the best.
  16. I do. I feel like I make an emotional investment in this team that will only be justified when they finally win the World Series. That is the only thing that can validate a season for me.
  17. According to the link from THT Live posted earlier in the day, the Cubs odds of winning the WS drop 67% if they lose game 1, so the odds of them winning the first series must drop by the same amount. The odds were 52% before the loss, so they now drop to about 17%. I'm too tired to figure it out, but I believe there is a problem with your assumption.
  18. I have a headache that wasn't present at the start of the game...
  19. The booing is getting way out of hand. There are times when booing is warranted, but it serves no purpose in Game 1 of a playoff series.
  20. Fukudome didn't play bad tonight. He wasn't the reason the Cubs lost. I agree. He made a nice play in RF and had a hard hit ball to third that I thought should have been ruled a base hit. It wasn't a great game, but he wasn't terrible either.
  21. I was discouraged by Soriano's approach, but I can't really say that I expected anything different. As we saw against Arizona last year, he is completely ineffective against good pitchers who can control their breaking pitches.
