  1. After the end of the universe, not much else matters, correct? Maybe Soriano would get the call...although it could be slightly distracting for the pitcher when he hops prior to every pitch.
  2. Do they still show Fred McGriff or have they finally fllmed a new commercial with someone relevant? I'm not sure, but it will always be Fred McGriff to me.
  3. This game should make the next Tom Emanski video.
  4. It's also Hank White and crew in a day game after a night game.
  5. This was probably already mentioned a few pages back, but why did Lou burn Cedeno for a sacrifice bunt instead of Dempster?
  6. I think Zambrano's flaws are magnified by the constant labeling of him as the Cubs' "ace." To me he is no better than a solid, although inconsistent, #2 starter and maybe he would be better of if he were viewed as such. I just hope the Cubs don't have to appease him down the stretch at the expense of the team.
  7. Last game was a good outing, but 2 out of 3 is still inexcusable.
  8. Exhibit #112 as to why Zambrano shouldn't start any sooner than the 3rd playoff game.
  9. I didn't see the game yesterday, but I was listening on the radio and assume that Lee's home run was aided by the wind. What is his home/away split of home runs? It sure seems to me that he hits his home runs almost exclusively when the wind is blowing out at Wrigley.
  10. I wonder what Ozzie would say after this one...
  11. I honestly haven't had any problem with it.
  12. Fontenot can stop taking 3rd strikes anytime now.
  13. It had nothing to do with communication. It was a lack of hustle by Soriano. It wouldn't have been an easy play for him, but at least he could have given himself a chance.
  14. Regardless of how long Maddux sticks around, nothing short of being linked to steroids would tarnish his career. What are people going to say... "Sure he won 360 games and had 20 great seasons, but he just wasn't a good pitcher at age 42." I don't think he will make it to 400 wins either, but I do think he will probably play one more season and end up somewhere around 370.
  15. I think he finished right around 130 and looked exhausted.
  16. Ok seriously, what is wrong with Yost?
  17. Bases loaded, and if Sabathis is removed at this point I wouldn't put it past the Milwaukee bullpen to give up 7 here.
  18. I wonder what Sabathia's agent is thinking. One one hand, he is increasing his value with every start. On the other, Yost may just run him into the ground by the end of the season.
  19. Good for Maddux. Maybe he can actually pick up a few wins now instead of wasting away in San Diego.
  20. I agree that a part of Lee's production decrease is the result of an age-related decline. I think he'll be ok through 2009, but I'm definitely worried about the last year of that contract. With that said, this year is really all that matters and I'll live with a sub-par Lee for the next 2 years if we can win a World Series now.
  21. I think quite a few of the people defending him didn't even see the play.
  22. First of all, Cotts isn't worthless. And most importantly, how does throwing at a Braves player protect Soriano?
  23. Why? The Cubs are leading the division with Milwaukee playing great baseball behind them. It's not worth getting a player suspended for the notion of "protecting a player."
