  1. With this lineup already missing enough guys, why is Theriot being given the day off before an off day?
  2. He's not going to be fired....he just got an extension and is well respected within the Cubs organization. And the team's injuries will be more than enough of an excuse to keep him employed. We shall see once the sale is complete. In 2011.
  3. I realize that injuries have played a large part, but it is really hard to justify a team with this high of a payroll having so many holes. Unfortunately the impact of Hendry's offseason moves will be felt well past the end of this season, and at some point the Cubs aren't going to be able to spend themselves out of their bad signings.
  4. At what point do we put a position player in to pitch?
  5. Because for some reason CSN+ is showing the Cubs instead of the Blackhawks on Dish Network. So I can either watch the Cubs or the Cubs.
  6. So you're saying that we wouldn't have to worry about missing Bradley and Ramirez at the same time if he had taken his suspension a week ago, when Ramirez was missing a week with an injury? That is irrelevant, because Bradley was injured anyway.
  7. Well, I don't think this is a death blow to the Cubs season just yet, but it does all but prove many experts wrong in their prediction that the Cubs would run away with the NL Central. At this point, we just have to hope that the Cubs can tread water for the next 2 months and stay within 4-5 games of first place.
  8. With the salaries being equal, I'm satisfied with this trade. It's nothing to get excited about, but it isn't bad as far as 25th man exchanges go.
  9. Day games are easy, but for night games I normally just pay $10-$15 at the Irving Park lot and walk a few blocks to the stadium.
  10. Dempster is far from garbage, but I do think the Cubs were too aggressive in their contract negotiations. I doubt there was a huge market for Dempster, and the Cubs could have signed him significantly cheaper if they had been willing to wait him out.
  11. That may be the worst "good team" lineup I've ever seen. Although they weren't a good team, it reminds me of the year when Sandberg and Dunston were both hurt and we had a middle infield of Paul Noce & Mike Brumley.
  12. That's debatable. I thought I saw him on 1st Base a few games ago, but then he disappeared...
  13. They do need to put him on the DL, but my guess is that he is refusing to go on the DL because of the effect it could have on his contract vesting. I'm not sure who gets to make the final call, but if the Cubs try to put him on the DL and he says he isn't hurt, would it turn into a grievance with the MLBPA?
  14. Rumor has it that Lee left the game due to confusion over not hearing the Luna jingle when he made it to 2nd Base.
  15. I still can't believe Hendry gave Gathright $800,000. Talk about throwing money out the window...
  16. A 10 page game thread for a nationally televised Saturday afternoon game... that pretty much says it all.
  17. he went the way of your TV :( Hopefully, for both Marmol and my TV, it is just a minor setback. I feel so deprived that I will have to watch the games on my old 27" until I can get a repair guy out here...
  18. My TV in the family room died... what happened to Marmol?
  19. It makes a lot of sense to blame the loss on defense when the Cubs scored a whole 1 run...
  20. I was at the game last night and I thought the same thing... what the hell is the point in booing Hairston? Sure he wasn't great as a Cub, but did anyone really expect him to be? The Cubs fanbase as a whole is getting way too boo-happy. I'm all for booing Dusty, but that kind of loses its effect when the fans turn around and boo a reserve player like Hairston.
  21. Vizcaino was doing well. Yeah I suppose. Then again they're releasing him. Dont forget Gathright whose roster spot could be be used just as well on a houseplant. But is that houseplant "speedy"? I thnk not!
  22. As much as I would love to see Bradley in the lineup for my first game of the year, I have to agree that it would be foolish to put him out there. Of course, that makes his "appeal on principal" look like an even worse decision.
  23. Miller makes me nervous every time he does the old man stroll through the lane, and most of the time something bad happens. I don't know what the deal was with Tyrus not being in the game.
