  1. Sources confirm that Bradley has left the park. Please tell me he has decided to retire.
  2. The Cubs wouldn't dare do that. Who else could possibly face one left-handed batter each night in Marshall's place?
  3. I'm not sure whether they are the worst outfield statistically, but they have to be close. Hendry has been taking us down this road for a few years now with bad, backloaded contracts. I thought he would at least get another couple years of good teams before those contracts started to backfire, but it appears to be happening much sooner. The worst part is the team will still be paying for Hendry's mistakes long after he is gone. At this point, I almost don't want him to be given any more money to work with, because there is a good chance it will only put the team in a deeper hole.
  4. Ran over Theriot trying to make a wide ranging play rather than letting Theriot make the easy play on a ball hit right to him. The Cajun Connection! Why'd Kasper give Fox such a hard time on that ball yesterday, but kind of glossed over that Fontenot gaffe? No idea, but he was unnecessarily harsh on Fox yesterday.

  6. Yeah but he's bad in the field. So he can't play over Blanco and Miles in NL parks. I seriously think that Fox is going to force Lous hand, and Fontenot is going to help the cause. I've yet to see anything terrible out of Fox defensively. He definitely won't win any gold gloves, but the way everyone talks about him I expected routine ground balls to be consistently rolling through his legs. Len was critical of him yesterday for not making the diving play, and most good 3rd basemen would have made that play, but by no means was it routine either. Everything I've seen tells me that his bat is enough of an upgrade over Fontenot/Miles/Blanco to make up for any defensive concerns.
  7. I partially agree that Hendry has nobody to blame but himself for how he has committed a generous payroll. At the same time, I can't blame him for committing all his available resources up front. If the Cubs' budget is run anything like other corporations, unspent dollars are often removed from the budget altogether. Maybe he felt that if he didn't spend the money, he was going to lose it anyway.
  8. Would you rather have him condoning steroid use? At least he is willing to voice an opinion other than "I don't know what to tell my kids dude".
  9. You must have missed Jackson Melian on the Score a few years back.
  10. Yep, time to send Fox down again for a 12th reliever who will never see the field.
  11. If Soriano goes on one of his hot streaks during October he could carry a team to a World Series title. I'm not convinced that Soriano has "hot streaks" so much as he has streaks where pitchers are giving him a lot of good pitches to hit. That won't happen very frequently in the playoffs, so the chances of him getting on a "hot streak" are very slim.
  12. Well, to be fair, after 13 innings of being made a fool of on the outer half, someone deep on the Reds' roster left one up and over the plate. Yep, it was bound to happn eventually.
  13. Guzman up in the bullpen... I'm glad he doesn't have a long history of arm problems.
  14. So when do we call up Gordon Beckham to save our season?
  15. I didn't realize it either until I went to Cincinnati last year and saw the signs. I always assumed they just wanted that name for their park and I didn't know it was an insurance company.
  16. Who would have thought the Cubs would reach "fun bad" status by early June?
  17. Who the hell is Patton? I think he was a General or something in the US military at one point in time. Did he only participate in extremely lopsided battles?
  18. Only thing Lou will change is the batting order. Still gonna consist of a bunch of crap. You are probably right, but the "its still early" thing isnt really true anymore. Something needs to be done to light a fire under these guys asses, and something needs to be done to help this offense. In think its been long enough that if a move or chsnge were to be made, it would have been made by now. With Miles due back Wednesday, he'll probably be the change. If the management of this team thinks Aaron freaking Miles is going to come in and help our offense, then that says all that needs to be said about our front office and Lou. They obviously thought that before the season. Why change now?
  19. This is the only way Fox would get a legitimate chance at 3B. Wishful thinking... Miles would be back up manning the hot corner every day.
