Hopefully the NL West teams beat up on each other and the Cubs make up ground against inferior opponents. I think Colorado and San Francisco are the only real contenders and they both have what appear to be more difficult schedules. That they do, but never ever count out the Marlins. I don't know. They finish up with 4 of their last 6 series against St. Louis, Philadephia, and Atlanta (and most of them on the road). I'm counting them out. :D

That's very true, except that both teams have very similar schedules the rest of the way and the Cardinals now have a 5 game lead. That's going to be very tough to overcome, short of us sweeping them in September. Their last two weeks has 9 road games. In Colorado, Houston, and Cinncy. We still have a shot. So you mean to say they will only win 7 out of 9?

I listened to part of the Cardinals' rain delay broadcast on XM Radio on the way home from Wrigley and their announcers talked like they are the best team ever assembled... but the way they are playing, just maybe they are.
Reporting from the upper deck at Wrigley... The rain is very ligjt at the moment but there is lightning in the area. And just as I type this the rain is picking up a bit. Its going to be a long day.
By month: .955, .657, .585, .992, .431 Does anyone know how closely those numbers correlate to the Cubs' strength of schedule? For example, did we play teams like Pittsburgh and Cincinnati more often in April and July than other months?
As has been said many times, his signing has had an indirect impact on the Cubs performance. The fact is that the Cubs are paying $2.5M for a position that could be filled (and almost certainly better) for the league minimum. I sure would have liked to see that extra $2M+ spent somewhere else where it could have mattered.
Hopefully Lou is the one getting canned This really isn't Lou's fault. Blame the architect of the team. Not even that. A lot of injuries + an bad off season from Soriano. Their is nothing wrong with the architect of the team. A bad offseason from Soriano? What does that even mean?
This was certainly not Wells' best outing, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that he didn't have anything today. There were several bloop hits and defensive mistakes.
To bunt, and most likely pitch another inning. Isn't he near 100 pitches already? Don't we already have two pitchers hurt? Not sure about the pitch count, but we have to save the bullpen dude.
