With Maholm's favorable contract for next year, I would put his value close to Dempster's. Reed Johnson may be just enough to get the Cubs back to Delgado.

Isn't it in his best interest to accept a trade anyway so that he can sign a contract in the offseason without costing the team a compensation pick? That would seem to increase his market value.

it has no effect on his trade value. I don't buy that. Yes, we are mostly overreacting, but there may be teams sitting on the fence who could be swayed by 1 good or bad outing. not even ned colletti is THAT stupid. It is 1 start out of 15. You can't just completely throw it out and say it will have no bearing on his trade value, especially coming off an injury. In the grand scheme of things, the impact will probably be minimal... but I don't agree with anyone who says it has no effect whatsoever.
