    Here are a couple of key points on the trade market that can benefit us. 1. Morgan Ensberg is on the outs in Houston since the Huff trade. 2. Pat Burrell is on the outs in Philly. Now, I'm not so stupid as to think we could get a guy like Burrell for a guy like Hill. There's PR to take into account, and the Phillies need back a good MLB guy. The same is especially true of Ensberg in Houston. I'd propose we give up Juan Pierre and a B level prospect (Marmol, Dopirak, Moore?) for Ensberg. It would solve Houston's CF problem and give them another piece... so I think that might be able to get it done. Over in Philly, I say we trade them Aramis for either Burrell and plenty of cash... or for Abreu and a bit of cash. Gillick has been trying to unload both of them, and this is such a huge upgrade at 3B I imagine it'd be an acceptible trade. Anybody else think this is a decent idea? It'd set up our OF next season (Burrell, Pie, Jones or Jones, Pie, Abreu) and we would basically be swapping Aramis for Ensberg. I don't know which player you would prefer, but the difference between them is negligible compared to the difference between our OF and what would be the new one.

    There's hardly anything wrong with that... Lofton's prime: 1992 - WARP 7.2 1993 - WARP 7.0 1994 - WARP 7.0 For comparison, let's take a look at some Indians' hitters from last year. Travis Hafner - WARP 7.2 Victor Martinez - WARP 7.2 Grady Sizemore - WARP 7.0 I don't know about you, but I'd kill for any of those three.

    That 775 OPS between A+ and AA at almost age 26 doesn't quite do it for me. I'm fairly certain this is Braun's age 22 season. And I'd take anybody who's AVG and IsoP are ranked at around the 90th percentile, even if he isn't willing to take a walk. I'm pretty sure neither of those are near the 90th percentile this year. Edited to remove "fairly certain", I didn't even see you use that. He still projects mighty well. I'm hardly a sucker for projection... but this kid could pull a nice Wily Mo impression, with some extra BA on top. Edit: Looking at the kid a little closer, he projects to be about the same player as Aramis. More K's, but better D (assuming this year from Aramis is a fluke)

    Walker since June 1: .244/.346/.286 Walker vs lefties for the year: .211/.322/.289 Perez since June 1: .339/.355/.548 Perez vs lefties for the year: .322/.323/.508 Why in the world would you send Walker up in that situation? Because of Neifi's stature as one of the worst hitters to keep a job in the major leagues, all time? Don't make me bust out an argument on small sample sizes. Neifi was a god for a month in 2004, remember?

    I think the measure of how badly Dusty wants out of here at this point is going to be determined from whether or not he pinch hits Walker for Neifi here. Edit: Buh Bye Dusty.

    I'd be all over this, but only if we make sure to push it pretty deep. In other words, I don't want to top off with a top 10 list for everybody. Maybe top 25 or so for each position?
