  1. Ditto Although the constant drinking might have something to do with it for me... I guess I could just blame that on the Cubs too.
  2. Not even close. He's still crap offensively, one good catch notwithstanding. I guess your interpretation of the events is based on how much you hate Barry. I'd beat up my own grandma if it would give me one swing at Bonds with an aluminum bat.
  3. Perhaps but Juan almost lost it out of the glove and had that happened, it likely would have been over the wall for a Canseco-esque bounce of HR fortune. That would almost have been better. Bonds ties Babe on a cheapy. Yeah, that's what I was just thinking. It would have been absolutely fitting for him to hit the ball most of the way, and then get a little help... just like the rest of his career.
  4. Nevin just doesn't hit anymore, and he was never an upper-echelon player to begin with...
  5. I'll never speak badly of Juan Pierre again... it was all worth it just to spite Barry Bonds.
  6. Juan Pierre just made it all worthwhile with that grab. He totally just robbed Barry of 714.
  7. Brenly made Johnson go seven innings in Game 6 when he knew there was a darn good chance he'd want to bring him out of the pen in Game 7. I know what you're saying though, seven innings doesn't sound so bad... Until you realize the DBacks were up 1-0 in the first inning, 4-0 in the second inning, 12-0 in the third inning, and 15-0 by the end of the 4th.
  8. Is anybody else seeing Jack McKeon coming in after Baker gets the boot and running Juan Pierre, DLee, and our pitching staff into the playoffs?
  9. So at the rate this season is going, I'm gonna burn through 2 bottles of bailey's a week...
  10. I believe Ryan Doumit has been learning to play 1B recently. That would solve the three catcher conundrum they've been dealing with...
  11. Are you forgetting about Eyre the other day?
  12. These pitches are going right down the heart of the plate and Jerry's not doing a thing with them...
  13. You're thinking of Michael Fontenot. Interestingly enough, Fontenot and Theriot were the double play combo for Louisiana State's 2000 national champs.
  14. Since we have until gametime to announce who is being sent down, any chance that we're in the process of finalizing a trade and it'll make an impact on who goes? Perhaps it's just wishful thinking, but this prolonged silence is somewhat odd.
  15. You just put yourself in a position where I'll love you for the rest of your life, or I'll hunt you down and kill you. Good luck to both of us, I guess!
  16. What's the difference between the Braves signing Andruw Jones to a huge contract and the Cubs signing him to a huge contract?...unless you're saying to get rid of guys when they reach a certain pay rate. Because the Braves can sign him to a huge, long-term contract at age 24 that takes him through his productive seasons. The Cubs would be signing him for the seasons where he starts getting worse and worse, as we didn't have the opportunity at age 24.
  17. 1. Trade Pierre to a team in need of a "real" CF and leadoff man. Should be able to get 2 mid-tier prospects for him, or one very young prospect with a great ceiling and a high flameout rate. 2. Move Jacque to center. It should boost his value (and production relative to the league). At the end of the season, he'd be easily tradeable as a CF. And Pie could take over the next season. Be sure to hold on to Jacque until the end of the season though, as he wont get much in a trade in mid-season. 3. DFA Rusch and Bynum, option Novoa to AAA 4. Call up Sing or acquire a AAAA player to stick in right field. Bring up Ryu to use as the long man, Wuertz to the pen in middle relief. 5. Hold on to Neifi until some team loses their SS, and trade him off for a low-ceiling prospect. Theriot comes up as the replacement. 6. See about trading Maddux, perhaps back to the Braves to shore up their rotation. Draw the names of their prospects out of a hat, as if you think one you choose will do well outside their system, you're mistaken. I know there's more, I can't just think of it all off the top of my head...
  18. Koronka, too! They can keep Koronka if they'll take Bynum back... heck, I might even send another prospect out with him.
  19. Macias had a .590 OPS last year IIRC. Bynum is at .474 right now.
  20. Bynum looked a bit out of sorts after that attempt...
  21. Per Rotoworld: I can't decide whether to laugh or cry about that last line...
  22. Ahhh, big glass full of Bailey's on the rocks. I'm better now.
