  1. All 2 of them in the first five rounds...
  2. You'd assume so, but I've got friends who keep advocate cutting him or trading him for a C level prospect or two. Perhaps it has me a bit jaded, but I'm still going to stay skeptical of anybody who proclaims we need to get rid of him.
  3. He was also sporting a nifty -2 RAA and a Rate of 88. Both pretty darn weak for a CF (although that doesn't make him any worse than Pierre)
  4. Quit being reasonable. Wood is a bum who doesn't care about winning, and just enjoys collecting his paycheck. We should get rid of him already. Afterall he's never won 15 games. I like Wood and want him to do well, but we should still get rid of him, for other legit reasons. There are no legit reasons to get rid of Wood right now. None. There are legit circumstances where it'd be acceptible to trade Wood for something else, or to allow him to walk after the season. But there's no excuse to take a player of Wood's potential and look for any opportunity to rid yourself of him.
  5. Hardball Times Edit: If you're looking for Huff, you'll need to turn off "qualified" and re-submit.
  6. 1. Murton LF 2. Walker 2B 3. Ramirez 3B 4. Barrett C 5. Jones RF 6. Nevin 1B 7. Cedeno SS 8. Pierre CF 9. Pitcher Edit: Yeah, there's no way I even put Womack in the lineup right now, let alone leading off. It's essentially a choice between him and Nevin. And while Nevin hasn't been spectacular against right handers the last couple years, Womack should be amazed he's even still in the league after the last year. It's strange to say about older players, but Nevin has a lot more upside than Womack. The only thing I was really struggling with was the placement of the 3, 4, 5 hitters. Any combo of those three batters would be acceptible right now though.
  7. As of this moment, Molina ranks DEAD LAST in VORP for NL catchers, out of 42. Some notables. 1. Brian McCann 15.8 2. Michael Barrett 13.3 3. Damian Miller 12.4 6. Mike Piazza 9.4 7. Paul Lo Duca 8.8 8. Johnny Estrada 7.1 10. Brad Ausmus 5.9 41. Henry Blanco -8.9 42. Yadier Molina -11.8 I think most people should be voting for either Barrett or Piazza, personally. McCann, Miller, and company aren't likely to keep their paces up. And if anybody votes for Molina right now, they need to be taken back behind the barn for a little "Old Yeller" treatment.
  8. Converted catcher/outfielder Throws in the low to mid 90's. Pretty good slider, decent changeup. All that's if my memory is correct though, I could be off a bit.
  9. Somebody went back to stuffing the ballot box for Looie. Ribbee is down to 77% now, even after ~50 votes from me
  10. You have to admit, there were certainly extenuating circumstances in Corey's case. He is/was one of the toolsiest players in the game, with a coaching staff that couldn't coach him to make a PB&J correctly. Dusty: "Alright kid, now put some more peanut butter on that thing." Corey: "Sure thing, but shouldn't I be putting some jam on this?" Dusty: "And clog up the sandwich? Are you crazy?"
  11. He's got a workout planned in front of some Yankees scouts coming up pretty soon...
  12. UPDATE!!: It's not the same one he originally had on. He got a smaller one put on a few days ahead of schedule.
  13. Pierre has a what, 13:1 SB:CS ratio now? At least that much is going right. It's a shame he's not on base more if he's finally learned the art of basestealing...
  14. Ooooh, interesting pick. His top comprable is listed as Derrek Lee.
  15. Buehrle has made some pretty nasty comments about the Cubs organization and players in the past, as well as ripping on Wrigley Field itself. And he's a self professed Cards fan who has all but stated he's heading to St. Louis the moment he becomes a free agent.
  16. Hey, Buehrle getting hammered is heaven to me.
  17. Mark Buehrle has given up 7 runs so far in the first inning. :D
  18. I don't feel like writing up each and every move I'd make, but here are some of the people I'd make sure to keep. Lee Barrett Cedeno Z Prior Guzman And that's pretty much it. I know a lot of people would point out the omissions of Aramis and Murton, but Aramis would be able to fetch a pretty penny, and I'm not sold on Murton developing the power necessary to be anything more than barely adequate. Don't get me wrong, I do like both of them, but I'm not so attached to them I couldn't even think of a deal. Hill and Marshall could be had for the right price of course, but if we aren't retaining Maddux, Wood, or Miller, I'd probably hold on to one or both of them. And here's a few of the prospects I'd be looking at in particular from some of the teams that could be buyers. Jose Tabata (NYY) Andre Ethier (LAD) Brandon Jones (ATL) Hunter Pence (HOU) Erick Aybar (LAA) Gio Gonzalez (PHI) George Kottaras (SD) Matt Tuiasosopo (SEA) Ian Kinsler (TEX)
  19. And may I ask why you think of that? Solid but not spectacular Minor League numbers, where he was slightly old for his leagues. Very low K rates(and corresponding K/BB ratio) at the big league level, and nothing completely great with opposing batting lines. He gets a ton of groundballs, but it seems to me his ceiling is that of a Jon Lieber, which seems to fall short of the hype he was receiving in the thread thus far. I'm with you on this one. His strikeout rate is just too far below league average for a real career. That is, unless he suddenly gets the control of Lew Burdette and a real defense behind him. Funny story, Maddux is higher on the all time strikeout list than he is on the win list. And his strikeout rate has always been around league average or higher.
  20. Thats hard to believe That's exactly why I stated my disenchantment with fielding stats.
  21. I got bored just now and decided to look up Jacque's fielding stats. According to his DT card, he's been worth 3 runs more than the league average right fielder thus far to date... I think I just lost any faith I had for fielding stats... And then he makes up for it! Go Jacque!
  22. I thought I was hearing all offseason about what a good defender Jacquestrap is... hmmm... I'm thinking it might be time to call baloney on all that.
