  1. I hate the Giants a lot. They can't hit and they leave who might be their best hitter in the minors for another 2 months so he can catch every day. But, their plan when he's at the ML level is to play him at 1st and C to prolong his career. So, naturally, send him to Fresno and gain a year on the arbitration clock and "imrpove his receiving." Terrible for Giants fans and the Dealers.
  2. I'd be really excited if the Giants would get rid of Molina and put Posey in where he belongs. Alas, they will wait until June 1 and then he'll still get 200 AB's this year. Oh well, I'm just happy he's a member of the Dealers.
  3. I feel pretty good about my pitching staff. I have three Opening Day starters (Kershaw, Nolasco, Beckett). However, offensively, I'm not as confident. I have a black hole at catcher until Buster Posey cracks the Giants lineup and I am hoping for a breakout from Travis Snider. Due to my pitching-inclined team; Valenzuela's Screwballs are now Ron Washington's Dealers.
  4. No suspension. No disciplinary action. Savard will miss the season. Brutal. Bill Guerin, his own teammate, said Cooke should be suspended. I believe Cooke will be slaughtered on March 18th when he plays in Boston. Every time he hits the ice, the Bruins will bring out their enforcers and handle justice accordingly if the league refuses to do anything about it. There is massive rage in Boston over this incident and a lot of angry people will attend the game hung over from Patty's day. It will be ugly. I pretty sure a day or two before the next Pitts/Boston game, Pittburgh is going to announce that Cooke has suffered an upper/lower body injury and thus will miss the game. So I wouldn't get too hype about what will happen, cause I doubt Cooke sees the ice. If so, he's even more of a [expletive] than anyone could have imagined...

  6. Sorry again for the delay with my pick. Mike Leake, RHP, Reds
  7. I can't find him in the database, but I want Matt Moore, LHP, Rays with my pick.
  8. In principle, I like it, but don't want to diminish the strength of a yearly MLB draft. Would the maximum number of players kept as active MLBers still be 10 ? Also, to account for this, any thought to reducing the total cap from 2000.
  9. I'll take Casey Kelly, RHP, Boston. Whoever's on-deck, you're up!
  10. Delroy Sahajpal ?
  11. I'm in!
  12. Yeah, I don't buy that. Tenuta, in 5 years, had 15 players drafted into the NFL from his defensive squads at Georgia Tech. Top 30 in total defense every year he was at Tech and was basically the only reason Tech ever finished above .500 under Chan Gailey. Tech's defense was on the field far more than the offense under Gailey. At Notre Dame, he's come into a mess. If Virginia comes to him, he'll be out of ND in a heart beat.
  13. It has nothing whatsoever to do with a sense of entitlement and more to do with the fact that ND would likely lose money going to that bowl game and has very little to gain from it. Yes, practice time, but if the new coach isn't ready/able to coach the bowl game, what good does practice time under a lame-duck coaching staff do? Not to mention the predictable media laugh-fest if ND lost to Central Michigan - which I'm certain they would do. yeah, notre dame's strapped for cash. probably can't afford a charter to detroit or wherever the hell that bowl is. Similar thing happened to Georgia Tech in 2001. Ironically, when George O'Leary left for ND for oh, 5 minutes. O'Leary left, Georgia Tech was left with a lame duck coaching staff basically knowing that whoever else was hired would bring in his team of guys. Georgia Tech went to the Seattle Bowl (now defunct) and beat then #11 Stanford 24-14. What that game did do was hold a lot of recruits and potential transfers from jumping ship. Oh, and the losing coach in that Seattle Bowl, was Ty Willingham, who took the ND job soon after the loss to Tech.
  14. That's arguably the worst clock management in the history of NCAA football. Or, at least as seen on TV. LSU deserved to lose that game.
  15. oh no, now the mutts will be real fired up for the 28th against Tech... rip uga
  16. Coach Cut is doing a heluva job there. Nobody could really ask more of him at this point. If Duke beats UNC and GT takes care of Wake, it sets up what is effectively the ACC Coastal championship game. No one would have predicted Duke having a chance at anything this season.
  17. Boise State's schedule, besides Oregon, is complete and total garbage, pretty much. TCU, meanwhile is playing in a league most consider better than the ACC at this point. The Mountain West better than the ACC ? Not really. All would agree that the ACC Atlantic is mediocre at best, but the Coastal has 3 solid teams who have all played a solid schedule thus far in 2009. One source, the Sagarin ratings has 5 ACC teams in the Top 20 of SOS. The Mountain West has 3 in the Top 50. With that being said, I'd love to see TECH run the table the rest of the way and go against TCU in the Orange Bowl (if TCU can't leapfrog into the championship game --- they would against a 1 loss Texas team who has a weak SOS).
  18. That's a bummer for my future Fantasy starting rotation...
  19. A lot of Rotisserie players go with a similar approach. Spend big on the lineup and fill out their pitching staffs with lower end pitchers who throw a lot of innings.
  20. I'd call everyone out right now. Manager, players, you name it. Who pinch hits Aaron Miles for Hoffpauir in a tie ballgame ? And to bunt ? Makes you wonder if the beverage sessions aren't just happening after the ballgame...
  21. The Phils were 7 back with 18 to play a couple years ago and took the division on the final day. This Cub team has been way too inconsistent to suggest that they will make a run over the final 3 weeks. This most recent streak has been against some terrible baseball teams. Over the last 5 years, here's a breakdown of the NL Wild Card Entry => Wins: 2004 => 92 2005 => 89 2006 => 88 2007 => 90 2008 => 90
  22. The Blue Jays are killing me by playing Travis Snider every day. He's already up to 158 AB's with 25 games to go. He'll easily pass 200 and thus killing an exemption year. BTW, for us losers who didn't make the playoffs, is the keeper limit going to be 2000 this year ?
  23. Bradley or Fukudome traded, Podsednik to CF. Hendry claimed him off waivers 2 years ago. He salivates over this light hitting, fast, gritty outfielder.
  24. Josh Lewin seems like he never shuts up, or maybe I just find him annoying...
