  1. The last time I looked Lincecum, Halladay, and Sabathia weren't available. Really ? I didn't notice! Davis hasn't posted an ERA in MLB in 7 years and, while the Cubs defense has not been great, they have made 10 errors in the three games he's started. 10. I could dry my clothes faster than it takes him to get the ball to the plate.
  2. You've gotta hand it to Hendry and the advanced scouts, this Doug Davis move was a master stroke. I'm sure the Lopez move will be even better...
  3. We more or less did that with this thread considering your 2nd round draft pick was not in the deal originally until the offers were posted. Anyway, it's done, time to move on and repeat as champion.
  4. The Cubs are last in walks and 2nd to last in stealing bases. Not just in the NL, but all of MLB. And, it's not even close. I'm not as concerned about the ability to steal bases as I am to draw a walk. St. Louis batters have walked 69 more times than the Cubs.
  5. Ditto! I offered Stanton, Venters, Singleton, Gibson and 1st pick in prospect draft. I'm thinking the 2nd round pick in the regular draft put Adam over the top in the sweepstakes. Jesus, I'd have taken this out of anything I've seen thus far. I only offered Moustakas, Matzek, and Ramos with my first round prospect pick. Adam upped it on the 2nd round regular draft pick once he knew we basically had an even offer. He didn't have that pick in the original proposal...
  6. To no one's surprise, Cousins didn't play yesterday in SF.
  7. The only issue I have with this, besides Posey being out for at least 2 months, is that Cousins launched himself. As I recall, in the NFL, you can no longer launch yourself and lead with your head to go after the ball carrier. This is the only play in baseball that resembles football, and Posey being the ball carrier (he dropped it), was launched into by Cousins. Sliding hard or trying to dislodge the ball is much different than launching yourself head first at full speed into a sitting duck.
  8. This is correct. Although there's a bit of inconsistency; the exemption limit is 50 plate appearances, but the minor league eligibility limit is 200 at-bats. Agree - it doesn't make sense. We should have one or the other as the standard.
  9. BTW - because Posey ends the year with 185 PA, I assume I don't have to burn his 2nd exempt year ? If I recall, the eligibility was 200 PA or 10 games started (for pitchers).
  10. Woe is me. Not sure if anybody saw Posey get steamrolled last night at the plate ? The report in the last hour is that he's done for the season with broken leg and possibly multiple torn ligaments. It could be a 1 year recovery for him. Who has a catcher ?
  11. When Dominic Brown becomes the next Corey Patterson and Hank Conger moves to Japan play baseball and be closer to his illegitimate babies, don't come crying to me... And again, who the hell is Grant Green and when will he ever demonstrate any value... (I'm not bitter) :?
  12. Robert, I'm pretty sure you know what the right decision is here... Would you rather hear me humbly accept a 2nd consecutive RK championship or hear Adam gloat forever about his 4th career RK championship ?
  13. Hank Conger is banging the ugly chick on the Korean version of American Idol...
  14. Ike Davis is basically a left-handed hitting Jeff Bagwell with a great eye and will be 30/100/100 forever...
  15. Dominic Brown hates puppies, Hank Conger once sacrificed a virgin, and who the hell is Grant Green and why does he strike out so much ?
  16. Good start to the week with big performances by Nolasco and Beckett. Josh looks like the 2003 Marlins version right now. I'm sitting Ted Lilly today to get the 2 starts on Sunday from Nolasco and Beckett (though I'm sure I'll kick myself when one gets rained out...).
  17. Good week. I had another solid week, but needed more from my rotation. My team has given up nearly 150 more pts than any other team thus far. The defense needs to improve. I'm not sure the same intangibles are there this year relative to last years title run...
  18. My only two-start pitcher is lost for the week with Nolasco's start PPD. The pitching situation was challenging enough this week.
  19. I'm going to have to do some pitching staff juggling this week. I've got a couple unfavorable matchups and I expect will need 6-7 good starts to win. Meanwhile, I'll take this opportunity to pat myself on the back for picking up Matt Joyce 3-4 weeks ago when Delmon Young went out and now Joyce is a Top 15 OFer. Who else has made a waiver / FA pick that has been huge for their team this year ?
  20. I can trade you Ron Washington for some coke...
  21. This epic battle may come down to whom I pick as the 7th start. I have to sit either Beckett @ NYY or Lilly v ARZ. Beckett has been solid all season, but leaning towards the Dodger Stadium homefield advantage with Lilly. Similarly, Adam has a tough call on his last start. I can't recall two teams battling above 150 pts after the first 3 days in a week. My team has seen a staggering 1729 pts scored against in 5+ weeks. The lowest PA is 400+ fewer.
  22. Ack! That doesn't look good. It's fixed now as Mike Leake has been dropped - I am sorry I missed it. I haven't worried about my minors roster in a while.
  23. What on earth has Mark DeRosa done since he was traded from Chicago besides inhabit the DL ? Hendry has made some very poor decisions as GM and generally has operated without a plan, but trading DeRosa is not one of his mistakes. In a roundabout way, it netted Matt Garza. However, you did point out one of the flaws in Hendry's GM skills. He never goes after the best baseball player. A lot of his moves appear to have ulterior motives or were just not well thought out. Hitting left or right-handed is meaningless. It only matters if you can or cannot hit which is independent of which batters box you stand in. Lineup L/R balance is a fatal flaw. The Cubs will evolve into a good team by getting players who have a history of staying off the DL, a strong young core, mixed with a few guys who are 27-32 and in their prime. And, a bullpen (Wood / Marshall / Marmol is as good as anyone else has to start with).
  24. Well, it's the MVP of Fantasy in a points system for several upper-mid range prospects with upside. Matusz is ok, but he's not the best starter on his Orioles staff. I would say Tim wins this trade hands down, though Halladay may cost half the cap to keep.
  25. It's on now! Rodelo gets a no-hitter (66 points) out of nowhere from Liriano. Clearly, everyone's bringing their best against the defending champ.
