  1. Done.
  2. I would vote for an extended draft from 3/19 through 3/26. There's no reason why we can't start a little later given the managerial changes and the season doesn't get going until around 4/5.
  3. I fully expect unless I have a miracle draft that my team will be in the lower tier this year. Due to the way the points broke out, I couldn't keep Beckett by 5 points and some of my starting fielders, while good, were too risky to keep. So, I ended up with this: Kemp, Matt CF LAD 642.2 Uggla, Dan 2B ATL 446 Joyce, Matt RF TB 0 Davis, Ike 1B NYM 0 Posey, Buster C SF 0 Kershaw, Clayton SP LAD 810 Axford, John RP MIL 0 Bard, Daniel RP BOS 0 Arrieta, Jake SP BAL 0 Total = 1898.2. I do have some hope that Matt Moore will be an amazing ROY and help the starting staff and Daniel Bard will embrace his starting role, but those are big what ifs ???
  4. I'll be in. My defense needs to get better though if I'm going to win.
  5. Are they planning to turn it into a McDowell's ?
  6. Lackey will be with the Padres by December. The Sox will pay the vast majority of his contract and try to get an outfielder in the process.
  7. Woulda shoulda coulda... The Dealers woulda won the East again if not for the knock out in the last week (well, general collapse in the last 2 weeks with close losses)...
  8. I'm amazed my team had 500+ more points scored against than any other team in the division. Basically, I started every week down 25 points.
  9. Epic failure by CJ Wilson last night. Could've put it away, but things don't look good now with Kennedy going. I need a huge day from my few hitters and a miracle from the Padres. :beg:
  10. Go Brewers!
  11. I think between two teams the first tiebreaker should be H2H and the second tiebreaker should be totals points in their matchups against each other. In three way ties go H2H if you can then go with total points. If H2H isn't your first tiebreaker then there really isn't any point of having a H2H league. Agree with this line of thinking. It's a H2H points-based league, so the tie-breakers should go according to the basis of the league. Division record should have no bearing on the playoff scenarios.
  12. The Sanitizers and Dealers are 1 / 2 for points thus far this week in the league. And someone is going to miss out on a playoff spot.
  13. You actually gained yesterday and have a 2 start advantage on me with two very risky starts left. Go Sox!
  14. Staffer pitches to his level of competition. This whole week rides on the outcome of the Lincecum / Stauffer throw down...
  15. not looking good for me. that unbalanced schedule looks like it's going to [expletive] me. 35 points apart and you've got a 1 start advantage. The biggest decision I have to make is Nolasco or Lilly for the last start. I'm probably going to go with Lilly because it is a night game in LA. And, the off chance that Irene rains out the Marlins / Phillies this weekend.
  16. Who else is excited about the Dealers jumping out to a 49-22 lead in the final week race for the last playoff spot ? AKA, the Dealers pursuit of a repeat championship. :stickman:
  17. Part of why Valentine is raising this issue is that he just saw Pedroia play 2nd base. That guy, is the most focused infielder in baseball and Valentine was gushing all over it. As for Castro, there is merit to this. Everyone does their job better when they are focused and into what they are doing (to state the obvious).
  18. Jed Lowrie is going to have the week of his life. You've even got Vogelsong against Houston @ home. Depending on how Nolasco looks tomorrow, I may go with Ted Lilly in a home game instead of Nolasco against Philly. It's really a tough call. Hopefully Uggla hits a couple bombs off Dempster tonight to get things started off right.
  19. Anyone having trouble accessing the site today ?
  20. Unless David Freese hits 3 homers, it's down to the head to head next week with the Sanitizers and Dealers. The pitching match ups kind of suck for me, especially Nolasco. It would really suck to lose this week and miss a 2 start performance from Beckett and Kershaw in the playoffs. Next week will be epic in the pursuit of a repeat.
  21. Umm...go Rick Porcello! There's a chance the Dealers, Sanitizers, and Toots will go down again this week.
  22. What does $12 million in draft spending have to do with Pujols or Fielder? Unless Ricketts' ultimate goal is to win the PCL, the ML club must be invested in as well. Just because the Cubs are starting to invest in their MiL system on a level similar to smaller market franchises like KC, Pittsburgh and Tampa doesn't mean they have to operate their ML team like the Royals. The BoSox spent upwards of $10 million on this draft as well. Does that mean that Theo Epstein is going to slash ML payroll? No, but I think the Red Sox recognize the point of balance required to win year after year. Current Red Sox who are home grown: Ellsbury Pedroia Youkilis Lowrie Reddick Varitek Lester Buchholz Bard Papelbon That's 4 or 5 starters in the lineup, surrouned by a couple stars (well, more Gonzalez than Crawford). 2 solid starting pitchers and the best setup to closer combination in baseball. That's how you win and also give you money to go after a couple big contracts to fill other gaps. The Cubs have just spent money on what is the cool thing to do (i.e. Soriano) rather than investing in talent at its prime. Finally, it doesn't help that Jim Hendry cannot hire a worthy manager for his team.
  23. My memory is fuzzy on this, but can we substitute for suspended players mid-week ?
  24. Whoa...says who that my team is not actively managed...I think I WILL beat RWD this week :) Mr. Kershaw is trying to do something about that. Nolasco [expletive] destroyed my chances last night though. That's two weeks in a row with a -30 start. It was more than enough to cost me a 2 point loss last week...
