  1. Springer? At #9? In this draft? That would be horrible and yet another reason to fire Hendry immediately.
  2. Garza is not good. And is certainly not the kind of guy you trade an Archer/Lee/Guyer/Chirinos package for. This was a typical Hendry debacle.
  3. If the Cubs ever consider Ryan Flaherty as anything resembling an everyday first baseman, MLB should just go ahead and contract the Chicago National League Ball Club.
  4. What else are you supposed to do with the inside pitch?
  5. Tonight's game is an absolute must win. The next two games are definite losses based on the starting pitching matchups.
  6. Sounds like they're taking the exact opposite approach to Wood/Prior and being overly cautious with young pitchers. Good news at least. I think it's quite clear that Quade is reflecting sunlight off his awesome dome, turning it into a hypnosis beam, and directing it into Hendry's eyes to make him do the right thing.
  7. Two minor corrections. Diamond is on the 40-man roster and wouldn't have to be outrighted and Chen is a RHP.
  8. John Grabow is absolutely awful. His agent must have thought he misunderstood when Hendry made him the $7.5/2 offer.
  9. If not Russell, bring up Alberto Cabrera and let him take a couple of turns in the rotation. Just please don't waste this opportunity on Thomas Diamond.
  10. If a manager's people want something dumb which will make them give more effort and giving them what they want is not detrimental to the organization, only a dopey manager would choose not to give it to them.
  11. Rob Whitenack. Matt Cerda, especially if they will let him play second base.
  12. Don't want Marlon Byrd hitting third? Assemble a roster that doesn't have a stunning lack of talent.
  13. The idea of "sneaking" someone through waivers is a mythical creature. Kind of like a unicorn or a leprechaun.
  14. Of course, Quade is almost certainly going to take Koyie Hill north. Let's face it - he's just another Hendry stooge in the manager's uniform. Until Ol' Punch Drunk gets the heave-ho, it will be business as usual.
  15. It may include a provision under which the Cubs will pay for him to attend college.
  16. Soriano never would have approved a trade to the Angels. Why, Mike Scioscia might have determined his playing time based on performance! Why would he subject himself to that when he has such a good gig with the Cubs?
  17. Can we start referring to Szczur as "The Emperor"?
  18. I don't hate anything and everything Hendry does. I'm just tired of the Cubs employing a GM who has proven himself unable to get the job done.
  19. The two "lowest ranked prospects" (Guyer and Chirinos) in the deal are highly likely to have productive major league careers as at least extra guys. All four of the prospects traded are - excuse me, were - meaningful, valuable assets. And Hendry exchanged them for Matt F. Garza.
  20. The season after Fielder signs as a free agent will be his age 28 season. If you could keep him to a six-year deal, he'd wrap up that contract at age 33. That would probably be OK.
  21. Let's keep in mind this is the same management team that just traded four meaningful prospects for MATT GARZA and gave KOYIE HILL $850,000. It's the same old bunch of stooges.
  22. I hope they take him north rather than doing the dopey thing and keeping a twelfth pitcher. Fukudome/Colvin-Perez-Baker-Barney-Ramirez-Hill Not much of a bench, but it's better than the David Patton Experiment.
  23. This would be true if we had traded for a frontline starter. Unfortunately, we traded for Matt Garza.
