  1. Without digging up my copy of the CBA, I don't think he would. Corey hasn't accumulated enough service time to refuse a minor-leauge assignement, and he'd only be exposed to the waiver process in question if he were out of options. It's not true that he'd only be exposed to the waiver process in question if he were out of options. Will Ohman had an option left this spring, but needed to be placed on and passed through revocable waivers before he could be sent to Iowa. My guess is that the same thing applies to Corey. They'll try to pass him through waivers. If he clears, they'll option him to AAA. If he's claimed, they'll pull him back. Remember that a team claiming him would have to put him on their active 25-man roster, plus pay the remainder of his salary (~$1.4). There might not be any teams willing to do both. He might clear.
  2. "What a horrible pitch" - Bob Brenly I've just received word that Kent Mercker has placed a call from the visitors' clubhouse at SBC Park to the WGN broadcast booth at Turner Field to complain about Brenley's treatment of the Cubs' players.
  3. Three pitches, three outs for the Cubs in the seventh. Fire Dusty!
  4. Have the Cubs only get Dunn and Kotsay. Replace Pinto with Hill on the A's side and add Fontenot. Take Welly out on the Reds side. That's a deal I could see more likely to happening. Nolasco, Mitre, and Patterson for Dunn? Grab my hand and I'll pull you back to reality.
  5. Hopefully Hendry can ram that down Dusty's throat repeatedly until he gets the message and gives Neifi no more than 20 PAs in 2005 and doesn't use him as a pinch-stealer (pinch-runner, sure, he's fast enough). So, Nomar is going to start and finish at least 157 games?
