  1. I agree, but history hasn't been kind to phenom pitchers. Here's hoping his career's a long one.
  2. 1908

Wait, Thomas was a medical redshirt because of a neck injury. I think I misunderstood your point.
  3. 1908

Thomas developed incredibly fast this season. He was on nobody's top 100 NBA prospects list last fall. So I doubt his coach thought he was ready for the NBA during Thomas' first (redshirt) year at LSU. Nobody did at the time.
  4. 1908

Meh, I read that Thomas was ready to come back during the season but his coach didn't want him to burn a year of eligibility while playing half a year.
  5. 1908

Deng and Noch have taken on an increased scoring load in the second half, and I expect Deng's scoring rate to continue to increase -- he'll turn 21 this weekend, after all. That said, I disagree with your assessment of Thomas. He's raw offensively at the moment, but he's only 19 and relatively new to the game. People had similar things to say about Amare Stoudemire back in the 2002 draft.

Tyson doesn't evaluate talent any better than he shoots, apparently.
  7. Nope, foreign players over 24 (I think, could be 23) are exempt from the draft so he was a free agent in the NBA's eyes. The Bulls helped him buyout his contract to play ball in Spain, but most of the buyout had to come from Noch.
  8. The Bulls shoot a low percentage as a team because very few of their players can drive to the basket effectively and frequently. It's a lot easier to miss a jump shot compared with a dunk or layup.
  9. He's questionable. Reports make it sound like he's still suffering some symptoms and they don't mess around with concussions generally. My guess is he's out tonight.
  10. A win against NJ would be great, but I wouldn't call it a must-win game. It'll be difficult to win tonight without Deng in the lineup anyway.
  11. Nice pics. The wind must've been brutal up there. The wind has blown right at my seats (third base side) more often than not over the past seven Opening Day's. Was very happy to have it blow toward the south side of the field this year. :D

Until we know where the Bulls are picking, it's very difficult to guess whom they will select.
  13. 1908

Why should players taken in those slots fall within those roles?
  14. 1908

What method are you using to evaluate these players? Good, okay and not good strikes me as incredibly simplistic. Kobe and Iverson are HOF players, but they rate the same as Peja? I don't think you can just throw something like this together and expect it to carry any significance.

How do you measure correctness in drafting? How often are you correct in your assessment of how college basketball players will develop in the NBA? No doubt it's an inexact science, but it strikes me as hubris to dismiss scouts' opinions of a player in favor of your own. That's just my opinion, and I think it's fun to argue about who's likely to do what from the upcoming draft class.

The crucial different between Tyson and Thomas is the hands. That is, Thomas catches everything and Tyson's small hands make it difficult for him to catch the ball in the low post.

I like Roy's all around game but I don't see the star potential in him. I think the Bulls have a decent shot at landing Brewer with their second pick and I think he'd be a good fit. Kinda like Iguodala, athletic combo guard with a suspect shot. Here's one place I disagree with you. Roy might still end up measuring at 6'4, but I think he definitely has NBA star potential - he can create his own shot, has a great jump shot, and plays great defense. I think Roy suffers from playing on the west coast (not saying you're one of those who haven't watched him much). Roy does have all those things. He lacks the amazing athleticism that the majority of star 2-guards have in the NBA, though. He could be the exception to the rule a la Michael Redd, although he doesn't shoot like Redd. He's the top SG in the draft but I don't think he's a top 5 pick.

Again, I don't agree with your assessment of Noah or Thomas, and not many NBA scouts and execs do either if you put any stock in Chad Ford's draft ranking. In any event, Paxson hasn't had a bad draft yet, so I'll give the benefit of the doubt with whomever he takes. I'll be ecstatic if the Bulls end up with Thomas. Williams is not a small PG, and the Jazz are reportedly enamored with Redick.

Both Noah and Thomas might not develop into stars, but I can't understand how you could watch them play and come away so dismissive of their potential. I'm more inclined to agree with Draft Express' profiles. Thomas Noah Crazy talk. I'm intrigued by Bargnani, but he's not going to be a low post presence. Redick most likely won't get past the Jazz at 13 or so.
  21. 1908

I could live with the 6-9 guy with the 40+-inch vertical.
  22. Trade down for what? This isn't the NFL draft, where 2nd and 3rd round picks are almost as valuable as 1st round picks. 2nd round picks are infrequently successful in the NBA. I hope and think the Bulls will take the best big available with their top 4 pick.
  23. 1908

    Family friendly, guys.
  24. 1908

Sadly, no -- if their second pick falls in the 12-16 range.
  25. Very entertaining game.
