My guess is that would be done when Skiles feels comfortable with having both Deng and Nocioni out there. 9 is a really good spot to be at, especially if the Shelden to Atlanta rumor is true... Sounds like that's on par with the Thomas top three guarantee at this point. I'd be happy with Williams at 9, though.

Very true. He's a huge liability offensively if he doesn't improve, thought. I could see Skiles playing Pietrus too much and the Bulls already subpar offense suffering for it. But even if he plays a semblance of defense, the drop off from Tyson would be pretty significant. You'd have to hope this year's picks at 2 and 9 would fill in the defensive hole in the front line that Tyson's departure would bring. Like I said, interesting. On the second point, if you draft Thomas, Troy's minutes might hover around 25 or less, making his shortcomings less of a liability while the (hopefully bulked up...) Thomas is garnering near legit starter's minutes and playing really strong D. I think Murphy would get the message: play defense or don't play. On the first point, thinking about a Pietrus - Duhon back court makes me nauseous.

Love this idea. It's intriguing. Not a slam dunk, but I'd be excited to see who they would draft at 9 if it happened. Williams or Simmons would be nice. Some reasons for concern: Although Murphy saves you a couple million a year and significantly outproduced Tyson this past season -- 15.93 PER to 12.23 PER -- Tyson's 2004-05 PER was right in line with Murphy's, he's three years younger, and he's so much better than Murphy defensively, I'm not sure how to measure it. Pietrus is an excellent defender. His production was pathetic last year, though -- 10.21 PER. He's a year older than Tyson, so he's got a good chance to bounce back. They strike me as very similar players, in fact. You dislike Tyson so much; why so high on Pietrus?
  5. When they come sprinting back on the field two minutes are they were rolling around on the ground for two minutes, give them a card. You don't see how impossible that is to enforce? You can't determine how hurt a player is and then do something as serious as card them for it. I was being facetious, but the embellishment seems obvious to me. And if players weren't rewarded for acting hurt, they wouldn't act hurt.

  7. family board. If it's what he did, its what he did. I was joking.
  8. Ok, momma's boy. ~Collapses and grabs shin~
  9. Reyna's back. I'm enjoying the World Cup a lot, but the swan-diving, shin-grabbing momma's boys really get on my nerves. :D
  10. Does that mean it's not travel related? My point is that if you do 2-2-1-1-1 or 2-3-2, do it for every series. Changing something as significant as home court advantage should be consistent, no matter what the reason behind it. Oh, I don't care about that. I was responding to the question about why the NBA changes the format to 2-3-3 for the Finals.

Happy they're looking to workout Bargnani. Not happy they're considering Morrison.
  13. Media travel. Never underestimate the power of hundreds of reporters complaining about something. BS. It's so that an underdog team has a better shot at an upset. No, it's so hundreds of reporters, radio, and TV people don't have to fly to LA to Boston to LA to Boston to LA over two weeks. It's about logistics, not conspiracies. Still lame. Why would you do something that could change the outcome of a championship series because the reporters might get a little tired? Pretty ridiculous. Baseball follows the same format -- for similar reasons, I suspect. Hockey doesn't, but the Stanley Cup finals draw a much smaller media contingent.

Don't hang your heads yet, Thomas doubters. We'll be bombarded with contrary rumors this last week.
  16. Professional sports contracts often have risky-behavior injury clauses in them. Maybe a severe football injury is addressed like that.

He's unlikely to be much help for any team next year. Love his upside, though.

I heard 8 foot wing span. 7 feet, 8 and a half inches. 9-5 standing reach with a 31-inch vertical.

Yeah, I've heard the Odom for Roy rumors. I don't think Lamar fits the Skiles' mold.
