  1. If the weather cooperates, the Cubs will win today, bats will break out - Ian Happ said so after Saturday' win.
  2. If this does happen, could it possibly push someone to 17 who may not have been available prior to Wood going up the draft board?
  3. Well, I'm glad he didn't bite the Cardinals, guess, I'd be OK if he had. Gilbert also just got off the IL, that may be a factor.
  4. That's 6 perfect innings, 13 K's.
  5. Bring them on, if the Cubs can manage that stretch with a record of 16-12 or 17-11, they'll be comfortably ahead in the NL Central. And, it appears, vs. Seattle, the Cubs will miss Gilbert, Woo and Castillo? I see Gilbert' scheduled today followed by Woo and Castillo on Wednesday. Guess, I might be wrong about Gilbert, he'll probably be scheduled for the series finale but, they're definitely missing Woo and Castillo.
  6. True enough but, if they keep hitting balls with 100+EV they're going to score some runs. Not even one of balls is going to be knocked down by wind or at someone.
  7. Is it the wind again? Not watching but, noticed the Cubs have hit quite a hard balls - 100+ Ev, with nothing to show.
  8. He does, although, the only hard contact that inning was O'Neil, they didn't exactly crush Rea that inning.
  9. Rea, and it no even close, while inconsistent, Brown has the stuff to dominate, Rea has no capacity to do so.
  10. This and the Pirates line up is, to put it kindly, not good.
  11. Looks as if the Brewers caught whatever the Cubs had today - Pallante averaging 5.9 SO9 already with 5 thru 2. Cardinals winning is the best outcome for the Cubs today.
  12. Without the wind Busch and Swanson go back to back in the 6th.
  13. PCA, Happ, Hoerner, Suzuki and Tucker all with big numbers vs Keller, Cubs are going to score some runs tomorrow. Lots of them, which is good, because, as can be expected, there's a good deal of Pirates with big numbers vs. Rea. When Shota comes back, Rea is the first who should go to pen. Followed by Brown after Jed makes a deal for his replacement.
  14. Okay, let's be optimistic, this is inning they break the seal.
  15. Shaw 0 for his last 12, 2 for his last 21, don't think he's hit the ball hard in a while, time for him to adjust. The league has found something that's working.
  16. Boy, Flaherty go rocked, as sharp as was against the Cubs, he was just as not sharp today. Hanging breaking balls, meatball FB's and the Reds didn't miss them.
  17. Thought about the Cardinals splitting the next two while the Cubs take care of the Pirates. You’re correct, those are the best outcomes. Sometimes hatred clouds reason and judgement.
  18. There's 6 in a row for the Cardinals, be cool if they have 9 game winning and losing streaks in the same season.
  19. Cabrera has the stuff, he might be able to qualify as some who could pitch at the front of rotation. But, I see what you're saying about the here and now.
  20. Completely ignore the fact they've faced a horsefeathers-ton of good to great starting pitchers. I'll give you they're slumping a bit, missing some meatballs but, you can't ignore the fact they've faced a pitching gauntlet of late.
  21. Terrible send by the Tigers, Carpenter looks slower than Happ, he was huffing and puffing before he got to third.
  22. Think there's any chance the Marlins would deal Edward Cabrera or Max Meyer? Cabrera would certainly cost more than Meyer, considering Alcantara may the hot commodity. It be just like Jed, under the radar, unlikely target, to get Cabrera or Meyer.
  23. Still waiting for it to happen to the Tigers, it hasn't, I believe their line up isn't as good as the Cubs.
  24. Pirates are not going score very many runs and the Cubs are not going to keep missing every rolling/hanging breaking ball or meatball fastball. We'll be happy on Sunday night with 3/4 in the books.
