Weird series indeed, Solano has the game of his career yesterday, probably the series of his career. Garver on Friday with his game of the season, it's baseball, it happens, even a broken clock is correct twice a day. The frustrating aspect is they'll never do it again, against the Brewers, Cardinals and Reds they'll revert back to what they are - ineffective below average players. Sucks their spurts of success came against the Cubs. Whatever, it's done, no more of this horsefeathers. I hopeful the Cubs will get on a roll, next 16 games, except for Houston, no more pitching staffs with multiple Cy Young types. Maybe, they can miss one of Valdez or Brown in Houston and Ryan from the Twins along the way. Cardinals and Brewers both have had winning streaks of 8+, Cubs are objectively better, it's about time they had their streak of 8+ games.

I know I've said this before however, it appears Happ, Tucker and Suzuki are starting to heat up. I believe a sustained offensive burst is coming and coincidentally, they'll be facing just the type of staff they should mash against.

Shota coming back helps with the right now. Given he's been out for a month+ it's almost like a trade.

Does Pearson have any options left? If not, I've feeling this is his last chance to stick as a Cub. Hodge and Little have to be getting close.

One thing, there's certainly a downgrade in SP the next series, no one on the Cardinals staff with overwhelming stuff.

Accurate to say they're both below average, with a 2.1 WAR Kelly' already having a better season than Solano will have in 2025.

I checked, last season, summing hits and BB's - 26, so, it's close.

That's true, Kelly is a scrub, maybe slightly better than a scrub, though he's not quite as bad as Mastrobuoni or Solano.

That's 10 RBI's and 4 HR for two of the worst hitters the Cubs have faced this year. Well, every scrub has a day or series now and then. Except, of course, Cubs' scrubs, who shockingly, perform like scrubs. Hell, did Mastrobuoni even have 3 hits in a one month period as a Cub?

Looked at his game logs, as you said, it appears he's on an upward trajectory, today he's facing the Braves. Another good start may signal he's nearly back. -
Watched the condensed game, given the conditions and the lack of defense that was one of Horton' best performances. Holy horsefeathers did the Cubs give the Mariners out after out after out, just terrible. Yet, they won, so all's well that ends well.

I agree and none of the mentioned SP targets have a price tag that requires either or them. I do believe the Marlins, etc. will ask, as they should, but, they're not getting a Wiggins or Cassie from the Cubs. -

Excellent, Raleigh hit a meaningless HR and the Cubs finally got Solano out. Is just me or does Solano' swing look really slow? If so, how in the world does he have 5 hits in two games?
