  1. horsefeathers you Santana, you're on a last place team, probably going to lose 90-100 games, just go into the dugout.
  2. They do miss the calls at 1B a shocking number of times. I thought, at the very least, they'd be near-miss on those calls.
  3. That was an automatic DP there, good thing PCA stole second.
  4. Definitely, Dansby got the DP ball going, have to try and avoid multiple outs.
  5. They'll get to the Pirates bullpen for a few, it's coming.
  6. Skenes may be close to done, wouldn't think the Pirates are going to let him throw 120+ pitches.
  7. The left-handedness is primary factor for me, if Skenes was a lefty I'd take him.
  8. Question - Given a choice Skubal or Skenes? For me Skubal and it's not even close, if Skenes was a LHP, I'd take him.
  9. I'd settle for a down turn in mistakes and trusting his off speed stuff.
  10. He isn't elite but, he's far from a Colin Rea, he would definitely qualify as good effective pitcher. I'd take him for the Cubs' rotation in a heart beat. I would also take Seiya and Tucker running hot in October, it's way more difficult to pitch around two or more hot bats.
  11. Out of curiosity, I looked it up - Eric Gagne in 2003.
  12. How great would it be if Horton dominating and not Skenes was the story of the game? I'd like to see Horton minimize the mistakes, trust his stuff, including the change up, no more straight FB's down the middle. Just curious, does anyone know, since coming up, if the Cubs have missed a Skenes start in a Pirates series? I'm guessing Skenes has faced the Cubs more than anyone else thus far in his career. I know there's been some frustration with the lack of offense but, holy horsefeathers the Cubs have lately faced a truckload of good to great starting pitching - Gore, Skubal, Flaherty, Wheeler, Luzardo, Heaney, today Skenes, after finishing up with Abbott and Lodolo. This might have something to do with the lack of offense.
  13. I was thinking Lynn McGlothen but, he wasn't a Cub until 1978.
  14. Guess we have a series now, the Oilers looked done after the first. An amazing turn-around for them.
  15. Palencia needed the work, don't mind Pressly closing against the Pirates.
  16. 3/4 be would great, of the Pirates, Marlins and Rockies, the Pirates, after the Rockies, might have the worst line up. They've better pitching than the Marlins or Rockies which helps to keep them games but, their line up? A total WAR of 3.9, PCA' WAR is 3.9. And even though statistically the Marlins line up may be worse than the Pirates, the Marlins, no matter how ****** they are, always give the Cubs fits.
  17. He started against the Tigers vs. Skubal and did pretty damn well, went toe to toe with Skubal. So, I don't know if user an opener is the answer, guess it couldn't hurt to try. You can almost tell what you're going to get out of Brown from the first batter, if he's all over the place, he's going to put the Cubs in a hole, usually a big hole. If he's not all over the place he's going to be real effective and, at times, dominating. Don't know how the Cubs can go along with him as a starter hoping to hit the lottery once in a while.
  18. Watching the Tigers and Orioles here in Michigan scrolling along the bottom of the screen - Jackson Jobe done for the season with UCL surgery. They've Casey Mize and Skubal but, I gotta think that's a big blow to their rotation. Elfin started, wouldn't mind him taking Rea place in the rotation, was hoping to see Bautista but, it's 7 - 1, now 10 - 1, Orioles bottom of the 8th.
  19. Sure but, their weak bullpen and defense have not been factors at all. That's OK, they'll show up in the PS.
  20. It'd be even sweeter if the Cubs are facing Luzardo in the deciding game and kick his ass.
  21. it really, really annoys the horsefeathers out of me that the supposedly stumbling Phillies righted the ship vs. the Cubs twice. But, you know, these type of things have a tendency to turn around in the playoffs. Maybe, they come in facing the Cubs, all confident, with the National Media predicting a relative easy series win for the Phillies. And the Phillies' weaknesses finally show up - the bullpen and defense - helping the Cubs to a series win.
  22. Maybe, Brown is just a bad match up for the Phillies? It's, what, 14 runs in his two starts vs them? If the Cubs face them in the playoffs I hope Counsell really tries to spot Brown.
