  1. You're probably correct, I've low bar, just want a TD from the Illini. The Hoosiers? They're in for a big dose of reality.
  2. I'd take them scoring a TD and not suffering any injuries.
  3. Coaching staff certainly didn't help, I also believe it's not their fault he can't process quickly enough or correctly see the field.
  4. If Jeanty was a Bear he'd have far superior numbers. Teams know the Raiders are incapable of hurting them through the air, makes stopping Jeanty and the running game a hell of lot easier. Except, of course, when the Raiders faced the Bears.
  5. I'm rooting for the guy, I also understand he may never be a successful starting NFL QB. There's a mental barrier he'll never overcome, I don't know if there's an offensive plan in which he could excel.
  6. I know that, was more snarky, sarcasm on my part and I truly believe McCarthy will be, at best, an average QB. Him getting offensive player of the week after that Monday night was total BS.
  7. I'm guessing Priester and Quintana for the Brewers the next two? If so, it's a step down from what the Cubs have, thus far, faced. Both imminently hittable, no excuses for the Cubs' bats.
  8. I find it interesting that genius QB whisperer McConnell' offenses look decidedly better with veteran former busts or star faded QB's. Why didn't this happen with McCarthy? I know McCarthy is out with an injury, when he did play, he had one good quarter. A quarter that was more awful Bears defense than good Vikings offense.
  9. Isn't Wentz a statue? Why not go after him?
  10. Would have been nice to get this game, faced with a lot of bad choices regarding the starter. It was basically pick you're own poison, I think Counsell knows it's about getting a split in Milwaukee. He rolled the dice in game one didn't work out, he'll pull all the strings to get Monday' game. I switched to Illinois-Purdue after the Brewers first four batters, I think Craig, if he could, would have switched to Boise State-Notre Dame.
  11. Yes, I don't get today, they ran for 170+ yards against a far more talented USC front. Today missed blocks every where, still, even with their lack of execution, this game wasn't really that close. This game, the awful Purdue QB didn't hurt them as much with his legs and they did a fairly decent job of stopping the RB - Mockebee - who, only looks good against the Illini.
  12. Oh, well, thought a bad idea to start Boyd on a short rest and it was. Also, thinking game 2 is Cubs best shot at a split and maybe, Counsell was thinking along the same lines. Doesn't really matter how the Brewers win by today, if the Cubs get game 2 it's on. At least, the Illini won today, wasn't really that close.
  13. To me the Cubs are playing house money, all eyes, all pressure on the Brewers. Don't know if means anything or if it'll be a positive for the Cubs but, hell, at least they have this.
  14. If a batter can't tap his helmet to initiate a challenge what's he supposed to do? Ask for a challenge?
  15. It's damn hard to call balls and strikes, I, sure as horsefeathers, couldn't do it. Well, I could do it, don't know how many, if any, calls I'd get right.
  16. You're correct, game 5, maybe, turn to Trout earlier perhaps, to start the 7th. Honestly, don't know if the Cubs would have won even had Durham not made an error. It was clear Sutcliffe on gas after the 6th.
  17. Just reflecting a little on 1984, I'll never understand Frey' logic of going with Sanderson in game 4. Trout should have started maybe, the Cubs still lose that game unfortunately, we'll never know.
  18. Think I read Ben Johnson was at the game? Does this count?
  19. I know we give the HP umpires lots of horsefeathers, it's got to be hard to call balls and strikes. Horizontally, no problem same for every hitter, vertically is were the difficulty comes in. It changes from batter to batter and the HP has to figure that out instantly, it can't be easy. That said, I'm all for removing umpires from the strike calling equation, they lack true consistency and they'll never have it because they're human.
  20. Guess it was 6-0 and you're correct, they'll just roll over the Dodgers like the Cubs did to the Mets in 2015.
  21. Guess this is more of a philosophical question, currently pitching appears to be trending towards velocity. Guys throwing 98+ is becoming more and more prevalent. In time, I believe hitters are going to adjust and start to become more effective against velocity, they'll be able to get on top of those 100+ FB's. What'll be next? Velocity with spin? Is that even physically possible?
  22. Yes, I just checked, it's been a minute since an NL Central team had some PS success.
  23. Are the Cubs the first NL Central team to win a playoff series since 2017?
