  1. Hope the Reds win, this could be a game were the Cubs could hurt the Mets. Come on Cubs, just once, kick the Mets in balls, a little payback for 1969, that horsefeathers Victor Diaz HR in 2004 and the 2015 NLCS.
  2. Just spitballing here, could Soroka be an option as well?
  3. I don't want to see Assad or Rea anywhere near an elimination game or even, the playoff roster for that matter. Might was well go with a bullpen game you've got no chance with Assad or Rea.
  4. Provided the Cubs make to a third game, why not Wicks?
  5. That's just the kind of ballsy move most any other franchise would make. Not the Cubs, besides, I think Wiggins is on some kind of an innings limit, total pitch count, restrictions, etc.
  6. Who knows, maybe whomever takes his spot gets hot and becomes a Cubs and baseball post season hero. Baseball is littered with such examples why can't it be a Cub for horsefeathers once?
  7. But, of course, who would have expected anything less? When it comes to injuries the Cubs have had terrible luck this season, it's almost always the worst case scenario.
  8. I don't get it either, this week, Cowherd and others have been downplaying his performance against the Cowboys. Going with the Cowboys were and are terrible on defense, which is true. Caleb also executed, some credit should be given, the NFL thought his performance worthy of praise. In the end doesn't really matter, as long as Caleb plays on schedule, trusts Ben Johnson, trusts in the process, he's going to be lethal against any defense.
  9. Tigers are 5-15 in September, don't know if anyone watched their game in Cleveland the other night. Cruising along up 2-0 with Skubal on the mound, 6th inning, Guardians take the lead without a ball leaving the infield. Bunt, Bunt, GB, Bunt attempt with the ball hitting the batter, Frey, in the face, believe they may shook up Skubal, WP, Balk and GB turned into 3 runs, ball game for the Guardians. When that kind of nonsense happens it may be time to come to terms with not winning the AL Central Tigers. Last night, Dingler drops an easy popup behind the plate afterwards, Guardians plate two insurance runs.
  10. During the moment it sure as horsefeathers was irritating, believe many thought Shaw would come around. Cubs caught Smith at the beginning of a very productive stretch of the season, his numbers reached their peak a few days after in Colorado. Although, I believe, over the course of games 2 and 3 the Cubs figured out Smith has trouble with high FB's. Taillon struck him out twice with high heaters in game 3.
  11. Just a guess, but, that may pan not either, doesn't Smith hit a decent amount of GB's. Maybe, too many GB's?
  12. I still maintain Jed should have taken a chance on Luzardo, currently, it appears the Phillies gave up nothing. Both of the Phillies' prospects in the trade had poor low minors seasons although, one of them, Boyd, did get prompted. The injury concerns with Luzardo, yes, Soroka had some injury concerns, Jed still went ahead with that trade.
  13. Quietly, or maybe, not so quietly, Matt Shaw has eclipsed Cam Smith, they've basically flipped first and second halves. Ultimately, they'll probably both turn out to be good players, maybe, Shaw ends up being the higher average hitter whereas, Smith ends up with a little more power.
  14. Thanks, I'd rather have the Tigers back in to the last WC spot than the Astros. Tigers finish at the Red Sox, who appear to be locked into the #2 WC, and Astros finish at the Angels. Both finish with teams having not much to play for sometimes, when you're in the position of the Tigers and Astros. Beating teams playing out the string is very though.
  15. Completely forgot the Astros have been terrible as well.
  16. Fairly certain if the Tigers don't win the AL Central they're out.
  17. You mean during the off season? At the trade deadline I don't think it was feasible, we saw no teams we're able to upgrade their rotations. The price tags were probably outrageous and completely unrealistic. I'm certain teams were trying to fleece the Cubs farm system for a rental.
  18. What's the over under on the number of HR's Boyd, etc. will give up against the wind? While Cubs hitters roll-over, pop up or hit a screamer at someone on every meatball. I understand Cubs pitchers are going to give up some HR's every now and then. The most frustrating aspect is Cubs' hitter rarely take advantage of the mistakes they get. Or, at least, not as often as their opposition does, and, it's been this way for nearly 3 months.
  19. Wonder if it's worth the time to watch this game. Cubs are going to lose coupled with an ESPN crew that'll have a hard-on for the Mets. Maybe it's best to avoid the frustration and be pleasantly surprised, if by some miracle the Cubs win, checking the score tomorrow.
  20. I think it unreasonable to expect anything from Tucker. Have to start with the assumption that Tucker will not be available.
  21. I'd sit PCA for the remainder of season, go with Alcantara in CF.
  22. Before the season I thought they'd win 7-10 games, with the injuries on defense, believe we're looking at 6-9. If Caleb and the offense are cooking, the November/December games against probable playoff bubble teams, the Steelers, Vikings and 49ers, will be fun. I think we'd all take a drastically improved offense, with Caleb arriving and a few playoff bubble bursting upsets as the result for 2025. Defense is easier to fix in an off season.
  23. Could be worse, we could be Tigers' fans, now that's a horsefeathers epic meltdown. If the Tigers don't get their horsefeathers together, it'll read see 2025 Tigers under the definition of meltdown in the dictionary.
