  1. Vaughn HR was on a meatball, terrible location by Shota, even Matt Shaw would have put that ball in play. Lower and inside it's probably a strikeout.
  2. Probably not, wouldn't mind the Brewers, Reds, Pirates and Cardinals being "inconsequential" though.
  3. Main problem I have with the Ricketts is Cubs have the resources to be the Dodgers/Yankees of the Midwest, they could make the pissant Brewers, Reds, Cardinals and Pirates mostly inconsequential. Yet, they choose to operate like those small market teams.
  4. Yes, look at all the ****** teams. What's the common dominator? Bad QB play, bad offenses.
  5. Honestly, at this point, I could care less about the defense. It's all about Caleb and the offense, once it's humming then use the off season to focus on the defense. I'm probably wrong however, I believe it's easier to fix a defense than an offense - give the keys, free agency, drafting reports, etc. to Ben and Allen, let them work. Poles should be used as nothing more than a conduit towards acquiring whomever Ben and Allen target.
  6. Hell, even if they don't win, I just want to see the Cubs beat up on Brewers' pitcher. As Jason and other pitching gurus have pointed out Priester is exactly the profile the Cubs feast upon.
  7. Think I've irrational hatred of Bertuzzi, most especially after watching videos of him wasting Bedards brilliant feeds and setups. Someone with more hockey knowledge please explain Bertuzzi' utility.
  8. Even with his slumping bat PCA is easily the best CF'er on any NL team, it's not even close. But, the best player, I see what you're saying. A healthy Tucker is the best player on all but the Phillies and Dodgers.
  9. I'm fairly certain sellers' price tags for the Cubs were outrageous and why not? It wasn't a secret the Cubs were in a tough spot and desperate to improve their pitching.
  10. I know the Cubs have had some success with signing Japanese players, just so leery of wasting resources on what, at times, seems like an exercise in futility. Feels like the Dodgers have the market cornered on Japanese stars and all of them want to play only for the Dodgers. During the pursuit of Sasaki didn't the Phillies say as much? Think there was another team that dropped out along the same lines.
  11. My fancy way of saying I believe Busch will improve.
  12. I do not think it beyond the realm of possibilities that PCA will improve with the bat, less power, more contact. Also, do not believe we've seen Busch' ceiling.
  13. Saturday is not going to be pretty, my hope is the Illini manage to score a TD and no one gets hurt. The big game for them is the following week in Seattle.
  14. It's my Illini can't possibly be good at football bias creeping in.
  15. That may be correct, Allar has never struck one, looked or played like a difference maker. Heck, one could argue, a putz. such as Luke Altmyer is better and more of a difference maker than Allar.
  16. Don't come at them with numbers and evidence, it's all Brewers are better, blah, blah, blah. Look at the division, the Brewers were unbeatable for a month and yet only won it by five games over a Cubs team dragged down by injuries. As you've suggested the numbers don't jive nor do they suggest the Brewers are superior to the Cubs.
  17. Also, lets remove the Brewers best SP and hitter for the playoffs, I'm certain that'll have no effect whatsoever.
  18. Speaking of Shaw what'll happen first - the Cubs score more than 4 runs or Shaw puts the ball in play (bunts don't count)? If it's Qunitana tomorrow and Shaw can't do more than swing and miss three times he's truly pathetic. I'm still a believer in Shaw and truly believe we're going to see a big time improvement in 2026, right now, he's useless with the bat.
  19. I still maintain it's real easy to look good against, thus far, ****** Cubs pitching. Let's see how "good" they are vs. some quality pitching.
  20. Collins is about as close to being a star as Matt Shaw is to being a star. Look at the numbers. And by, any measure over a larger sample size Vaughn is still sh*t on a stick.
  21. It's real easy to look good against a tiring Boyd and struggling Shota, let me see Turang, Collins and Vaughn do the same against the likes of Snell, Ohtani and Yamamoto. And let's completly discount Moises and Cassie putting up comparable or better minor league numbers, let's just write then off now.
  22. Yeah, for all their little engine that could vibes they really haven't a chance against the Dodgers. Dodgers pitching, now that they have the luxury of moving Glasnow, Sasaki and Sheehan to their pen, is a very bad match up for them and probably all of baseball. horsefeathers think about that, Horton injury' not withstanding, Glasnow and Sasaki would quite probably be the Cubs games 1 and 2 starters vs. the Brewers.
  23. This is going to happen, don't think it'll be now. More like November-December.
  24. Offensively they'll be right there with any of those teams, defensively well, not much to say on that front.
