  1. Lady Bing does seem like Kane's type of trophy It's Bing, not bang. Weren't they going to rename that trophy?
  2. Couldn't...it was on WGN local. I had to watch the hooked on Pheonix feed. They were kneeling before Saad, the color guy said he would be a superstar. They also speculated that the crowd was big ude to people thinking that Torres would be there. Maybe being the best team in the league has something to do with it.
  3. Haven't seen anything today but Hjammer and Roszival merely had the day off yesterday so they should be available tonight.
  4. I've been a casual fan for years. Grew up on the Penguins, watched every game of the Lemieux/Jagr Stanley Cup seasons. Never really got into the Blackhawks like I did other Chicago teams, though I rooted for them in their Cup year. Columbus has been so supremely bad, that they were hard to cheer for until recently. Do you also root for the Patriots, Duke basketball, Alabama football, and the Miami Heat? Just kidding. Mostly! Are you really lumping Columbus into that group? Anyone getting on the BJs bandwagon now can pretty much pick their seat.
  5. Can't decide who has a tougher schedule between the Stars and BJs. They both play good teams that may not really care about playing them tough. It would be fun (as a fan on neither team) if it came down to their game next week. Of course it would be even more fun if the Stars and Wings game 48 was for the playoffs and then went to a shoot out. Of course that would have to be the worst way to end a season for one of those teams.
  6. Hopefully this is just to rest these guys and nothing more. Since we haven't heard anyone recalled, they can't both be hurt and at least one of them is going to play.
  7. It's hardly a flood. But they do run the risk of ruining the novelty of the event. It's like when Elmo wished it was Christmas every day and then nobody cared about Christmas anymore and it ruined it.
  8. Last night the Hawks didn't even really care and they still won by 3 goals. As a fan, making the playoffs is always something to root for but Columbus is probably better off not making it so they have one last shot at the draft lottery. They're young and getting better and starting next year will probably keep making the playoffs in the East. If they make the playoffs as the 8 they will be out in the 1st round. In the long run, it's ok if they miss the 8th spot. That's why I want Phoenix in that spot, so we can enjoy absolutely crushing them.
  9. Who will goon it up more? The Blues and by a lot. The Wings probably still believe that they can skate with the Hawks. Their game has been more about skill than size. They have a few dirty players but I'd expect them to play it clean in the playoffs, at least until they're down 0-3 in the series. The Blues only chance of success against the Hawks is to make it a slug fest since they really don't have any scoring talent up front.
  10. That is not a defense. If a sucky player has a sucky stretch of play, pointing out he sucks is not negated by a small sample size. If he was good and went 1-20 it would be a different situation. If he was bad and went 10-20 he'd still be bad. I see what you're saying, however, if a scrappy white dude went 10-20 there would be plenty of people saying he was good.
  11. Lillibridge is not even worth hating. In his defense, if he were someone people did like, people would be saying "small sample size" regarding his 1 for 20 or whatever he's done so far.
  12. i can recall several instances of MLB hitters angrily walking to the mound wielding their bat after a HBP and getting minimal if any penalty for it afterward I'm not saying they would but they could arrest him for assault.
  13. Why wait until Tuesday?
  14. There's no reason for him to play. I'd like to see Oduya geta healthy scratch soon too, just to give him some time to recharge.
  15. Yes but he was apparently running towards the opposing dugout with a bat in hand. That isn't a whole lot better. Luckily he was stopped before he got close enough to do anything. Not even making it to the dugout and not swinging the bat (and possibly making contact with the opponent's dugout wall) is a lot better than the initial reports. Yeah, I don't even see how you could see it's not a whole lot better. It's a completely different dynamic if he actually goes to the dugout and pounds on it while waiting for a challenger. It still could be considered aggrivated assault, couldn't it?
  16. You could say that about just about any of the playoff hopefuls except for maybe Edmonton. The team in front of Lehtonen stinks most of the time. I can't make up my mind between wanting Detroit in the first round or wanting them to miss the playoffs entirely.
  17. Saw that today. Washington Post has had some articles about that stuff. Funny. What a player does at the end of the season seems to carry more weight than the body of work. It also depends on how you define most valuable. Take Crosby off the Pens and they're still a good team. same thing with Kane. The CAps really don't have much else besides Ovie. Best player over the course of the season has been Kane. It's not Crosby's fault that he got hurt but injuries IMO should count for post season awards. It may sound harsh but being able to stay healthy should count for something.
  18. They said he was a healthy scrath but I thought I heard that he didn't make the trip. Do the press box guys travel when it's a one game trip? I always assumed they did just in case they're needed at the 11th hour. Speaking of Bolland, I don't want him taking draws on the PP ever again.
  19. At least they've been on enough of a roll to legitimately belong in the playoffs now. That's true but they're also about 2 losses away from 11th place
  20. So, Caps fans are starting to get kinda mouthy all of a sudden. They're talking Ovie for MVP too.
  21. I see where you're coming from regarding Kruger. I feel like the Bickell-Shaw-Stalberg line was fairly pedestrian lately but has looked a lot better with Handzus. Shaw would certainly add a net presence to that 2nd line but I'm not sure how much space he would create on that line either. The truth is that if there was an easy answer we'd already see what that was. I guess we'll se how things play out the rest of the way. I suppose we probably shouldn't rule out Bolland on the 2nd line. I'm not as down on Bolland as some people but if he's on the 2nd line, I'd rather go with this set up Sharp-Toews-Kane Saad-Bolland-Hossa Bickell-Handzus-Stalberg Shaw-Kruger-Frolik We've seen what that first line can do and that second line would have 3 good defensive player and still be able to generate some scoring.
  22. He will have to find his way a little bit but I think he is creative and fearless enough to make it work. Handzus may be too slow, Shaw has had the same types of flashes of offense followed by long periods of invisibility and Bolland's issues have been well documented. So really it's Kruger by default unless Handzus can prove capable of keeping up. I think we'll see all of these options explored over the remaining games.
  23. It's hard to say what would have happened. He might have had to wait until Sharp got hurt to crack the top 6 on a consistent basis. In a saeason where they haven't been practising as much it would be hard for him to move up the ladder except by getting a chance in games. With everyone back, I'd like to see this line up for the playoffs Saad-Toews-Kane Sharp-Kruger-Hossa Bickell-Bolland-Stalberg Shaw-Handzus-Frolik The first line will draw the top defensive line of the other team, leaving the second line to wreak havoc. The 3rd and 4th lines should be pretty effective too.
  24. I think they still need some combo of 3 points to clinch Friday since the Blues won last night.
  25. Yeah, sorry to Carcillo, but his injury may have been one of the best things that happened to the Hawks this season. saad would have been up early in the season even without the carcillo injury though He was up nut he was a healthy scratch
