  1. It makes me wonder how much of this is based on reputation and perception instead of actual results. How much time/ energy do teams spend monitoring what other teams around the league are doing?
  2. srsly May be that will clear his mind and he'll play inspired hockey.
  3. I'd much rather replace Bollig with Morin or Smith on that 4th line. That line has already shown it can generate chances and score goals since they don't have to face the Wild's top pair. Having a better forechecker and finisher on that line would make a bigger difference than the emergency goonishness provided by Gorilla Salad.
  4. Castro for Stanton. Who wins that trade? Who has to include other pieces to balance it out?
  5. Because they stand around thinking that they don't have to move because someone will just make an awesome pass to a wide open guy. The other problem is that Leddy is the only good PP QB they have. I'd like to see them take most of the stars off the power play just to get it moving.
  6. I hope it goes 7 games and 25 OT so they have that much more time to beat each other into drool donkeys
  7. Maybe there's an excentric GM who wants to make an alphabetical 25 man roster and he needs aa player with a first name starting with "I". Perhaps.
  8. Examples? I guess I could see where throwing around the word hero when we don't really know if there will be any backlash against him for this act might rub people the wrong way. But that's nothing compared to the hypocracy from the other side.
  9. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=669433&navid=nhl:topheads They'll probably give it to Gallagher since he scored the most goals, was a late round pick and plays for the Canadians. I wouldn't trade Saad for either of those guys though Huberdeau should have a really good career. Yeah I don't expect Saad to win. He'll be penalized for playing alongside Toews, Kane and Hossa. I guess it depends on who's voting. I don't believe other players would punish him for playing on a line with 2 stars since there's only 1 puck and 2 other guys that are used to having it. Other players would also appreciate that SAad is a very good overall player. Sportswriters, however, probably won't look past the goals scored stat- which is why Subban will probably win the Norris even though there are better defensive d men out there.

  11. Harry Caray died like a million years ago. The guest conductor stuff has nothing to do with Drinky the Clown anymore. Also, if they didn't let Santo just sing it every day, they're sure not going to have Czonk do it.
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8PLepHKj4k also this
  13. I attribute that to the combination of it being a day game on the road and the desparation of the Wild. The outcome wasn't really that hard to predict. In fact, practically everyone had the Hawks in 5 for this very reason. Handzus had his worst game as a Hawk. Hopefully that doesn't happen again. Yeo is making a deal with the devil playing Suter 90 minutes a game. The few times this season that the Hawks have been outplayed, they've come back and dominated. The veterans on this team know what they have to do in game 4 and they'll do it and put everyone's minds at rest.
  14. This sounds like something someone says two weeks before they get outted themselves.
  15. They should be complaining about the Rangers themselves completely coming unravelled in the 2nd period. Watching live, I didn't think that the hit on the Candians players was as blatantly dirty as the announcers seemed to suggest. It was pretty scary when he was laying there motionless for that long. I guess he didn't want to gross anyone out with his broken nose. 2:56 to see the best view of the hit
  16. I hope it stays that way and the series goes 7 games. I'm torn between my hatred of the Canadiens and wanting to see a Bruins-Pens match up in round 2. Of course, the last thing anyone wants is a Caps-Pens ECF so go Ottawa.
  17. Every time this comes up I'm reminded of a bar in Champaign that use to play American Pie every night at midnight. After a while, this became tedious but they kept playing it because a certain element of the crowd wanted to hear it and it was part of the experience of going to that particular bar. I would imagine that the same is true of the guest conductors. Not that anyone goes to games to hear a B list celeb butcher a song but it's part of the experience of going to a live game. The solution is to not televise the actual song. That way it's still an experience for the fans at the game but doesn't annoy the fans at home.
  18. Oduya played very well and Leddy leading the offensive charge in the zone is fun to watch. Unless you're a Wild fan, in which case it's a nut punch.
  19. So much for the Isles giving the Pens a series. Hopefully tonight's games will be better. I expect The Sens to beat the Habs. I'm intrigued to see what will happen with the Caps/ Rangers.
  20. Crosby is a game time decision for the Pens. My guess is he doesn't play until the Pens either lose a game or are up 3-0
  21. It will be hard for Suter to keep logging that much TOI. A loss in OT has to be about the worst possible scenario for the Wild in game one. They don't have the depth to sustain success if their top lines and pairings are getting double shifted.
  22. Wild Fans, if they are realistic, probably know that they really had to have last night's game to have any chance in the series. Sure they hung around but in the end they still lost. The more meathead variety fan though probably believes that Harding can and will play that well for the whole series. He seems to be the sentimental favorite in MN. Perhaps he can, but it seems to me that there's probably a reason why Backstrom played 40+ games this season.
  23. Bollig is by no means John Scott out there but he has no business playing in the playoffs against a team not named the Blues. It's not that he played badly, he was ok and I suppose made a few hits, but I'd rather see that 4th line have someone that was a threat to score. Kruger can create against 4th line guys and Frolik works hard. What that line needs is someone that can score a dirty goal. The Wild 4th line is simply not that good. If Smith or Morin are in the lineup this game likely never makes it to OT.
