  1. I don't have a photo but among the 9 Kings players that were entering and leaving the ice there's one white jersey trying to tag up. Keith probably couldn't see him in the crowd. Not sure how the refs did either. It was a good call. I do have a problem with the no icing call late but that's not why they lost.
  2. Year to year, relief pitchers are never the same. They have an annoying habit of suddenly not being able to get anyone out. If the season is already going poorly, what difference will Having or not having Russell make?
  3. i dunno man, zdeno chara might have him beat. his eyes aren't even on the same parallel, which just adds to the weird oblong chris chelios thing he has going on Rask has clown hair and looks like he just ate some shrooms.
  4. We have all summer to talk about this type of stuff. Has anyone heard if Richards is going to play?
  5. Tuuka Rask is one silly looking individual https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1600&bih=811&q=tuukka+rask+girlfriend&oq=tuu&gs_l=img.1.1.0l10.2135.3482.0.6062.3.3.0.0.0.0.110.250.1j2.3.0...0.0.0..1ac.1.15.img.9VrZ3jC9fhY#hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=tuukka+rask&oq=tuukka+rask&gs_l=img.3..0l10.73583.77159.0.78603.11.11.0.0.0.0.146.1331.1j10.11.0...0.0.0..1c.1.15.img.MihZLJksL6w&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.47244034,d.dmQ&fp=1ff30c2776b38db0&biw=1600&bih=811&facrc=_&imgrc=2Ac1pso6kXG36M%3A%3BDw5cD4uUPhfngM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww1.whdh.com%252Fimages%252Fnews_articles%252F320x180%252FTuukka-Rask-Bruins-2012.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww1.whdh.com%252Fnews%252Farticles%252Fsports%252Fbruins%252F12009614887580%252Frask-takes-torch-from-thomas-as-bruins-return%252F%3B320%3B180
  6. Sooner or later, bad goal tending was going to hurt the Pens. Surprised it's this bad though. If the Hawks advance they will be the best team the Bruins have faced all year.
  7. Trying to think of which teams need starting goalies. Calgary Columbus- if Bobrovsky jumps to the KHL Minnesota- if Backstrom can get a deal elsewhere Florida- if they don't get Borat from the Canucks Buffalo- if they can find a taker for Miller Philly- aren't they always? Devils- Broduer can't play forever There's some big ifs there
  8. More like Emery's replacement after someone does the same. Of course, if they follow the Detroit model of not paying goalies then maybe he's his eventual successor.
  9. neither. Clearly a vampire based on the pint on blood in her hand that she stole from somebody's IV unit.
  10. That Ilyn Payne ish cannot stand How is that not a double minor? Unsportsmanlike, slashing, or cross checking, take your pick. How does Toews get a roughing minor but Crawford doesn't? I'm thinking the ref may have just given the roughing that Crawford would've had to Toews instead, feeling like a penalty had to be handed out, but not wanting to penalize the goalie. Although I suppose it doesn't much matter. Someone would've served the penalty for Crawford anyway, right? Yes, but they could have put Kane or another non PK guy to serve the minor instead of Toews who is one of the most important PK guys on the team. It wound up not mattering but still.

  12. I was happy about the back-to-back. I thought that definitely gave the Hawks the advantage. Knocking Quick out of the game was so sweet. Hopefully that gets into his head a bit. It would be great if we can take 1 out of 2 in L.A. That would put us in the driver's seat to head back to the finals. If not for the schedule, he probably finishes that game. I doubt it will have any negative effect on him. Game 3 becomes do or die for them. If ever there was a game that Quick could steal this would be it. I hope that the Hawks believe what they are saying and are taking the Kings seriously. I think the scum series showed them what can happen if they don't come out with purpose.
  13. There's some serious speed on that 3rd line with Saad and Stalberg
  14. I like that every Hawk interviewed mentioned that the Kings are undefeated at home. I was especially glad to see them not take game 2 for granted- which is what they basically did in the first 2 series. maybe somebody else mentioned this earlier, but didn't cheering the anthem start before '91? edit: never mind. Saw that it was '85 like I had thought. Wasn't that the Hawks first season as a franchise? Or was that when they switched their names from the Decatur Staleys?
  15. Good movie night. I've been told to watch Goon. Will probably do that. I liked it. It wasn't quite Bull Durham on skates but it didn't take itself too seriously either.
  16. If he doesn't (or can't) cancel out Toews, they get swept or lose in 5. The way I see it, people expect Toews to shut down Zetterberg but its news when Zetterberg shuts down Toews. but i don't understand why. you can just as easily say that the hawks lose in 5 if toews doesn't cancel out zetterberg. I'm not a real good source for hockey stats, but I see Toews is a -2 for the playoffs so far, and 6 total points. Only Leddy and Seabrook have a lower +/- so far. Z posted 12 points and a +3. Toews does need to pick up his game a little, and I think he will. While you can say that each player neutralized each other, it's clear to me that Z had the better playoffs through 2 series, so maybe that's why Z is getting more credit. Also, Toews' meltdown was pretty obvious, so it drew a lot of attention. +/- is to hockey stats what batting average is to baseball stats. Easy to calculate and somewhat useful but often misleading.
  17. According to this http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2008/11/13/660354/the-cub-can-of-worms-georg Mitterwald had 8 rbi the day of his 3 HR game
  18. i was checking out the letsgowings forum earlier and was a little disappointed by the schadenfreude material. this makes up for it Thanks for this. I had no idea that Crawford played so poorly.
  19. If he doesn't (or can't) cancel out Toews, they get swept or lose in 5. The way I see it, people expect Toews to shut down Zetterberg but its news when Zetterberg shuts down Toews. If the same thing happens in the next series with kopitar, I think that favors the Hawks due to the Kings difficulty scoring.
  20. Is the gap between Campbell and say Leddy bigger than the gap between Roszival and Jordan Hendry or Oduya and Sopel? Sopel was borderline awful during the season but nails during the playoffs. Oduya is, at times, the opposite.
  21. Most of Buff's heroics were against the Canucks. I have no real vivd memories of anything Brouwer did during the playoffs. We have the luxury of seeing the complete body of work from those guys while we've yet to see what else Bickell and Saad might do the rest of these playoffs. The current team has no one player as good as Ladd as far as secondary scoring goes. Versteeg was also better than Stalberg's been so far, if that's a fair comparison of players/roles.
  22. Somewhere George "The Baron" Mitterwald sheds a tear. Didn't Rick Wilkins have a 3 HR game too?
  23. Here's the stats for the playoffs so far http://www.nhl.com/ice/teamstats.htm#?navid=nav-sts-teams Kings are about 22% on the PP and about 86% on the PK. SSS applies to all of this but the Kings come out ahead in a lot of important categories.
  24. I think so. If the Hawks aren't going to score on PP, it's better that nobody does, because they are better than most (if not all) teams 5-on-5. conventional wisdom says that if pk %+ PP %= more than 100 you're in good shape. So far in the playoffs the PK is operating at a 97% clip so really anything good that happens on the PP is a bonus. However, since this looks to be a hit fest on the part of the Kings, if they aren't at least a little afraid of taking penalties that will make them that much more aggressive. If the PP can chip in at about a 12% rate ( I think they were about that in the reg season)then they should be in good shape. edit: in the playoffs they're at 16% on the PP and 97.6% on the PK
  25. The Rolling Stones have concerts in the UC on Friday night and Monday night. And they wanted their premier team, Pittsburgh, playing Saturday night in primetime. unrelated question: are any of the Rolling Stones great grandparents yet?
