  1. Why isn't Steve Stone calling one of these games?
  2. Yup, Izzy found his stuff. Game Over.
  3. The SD 3B coach is like the exact opposite of Wendell Kim.
  4. They'll still win. If Fick homers I'll eat my shoe.
  5. Unbelievable. I'm off to play PS2 before I puke. Damned Cardinals.
  6. Great AB here by Loretta.
  7. Padres keep swinging on that fastball in on the hands.
  8. Hobbes looks like he's celebrating that fact. If he is a Cardinal fan I demand you take him out of your sig.
  9. Come on, Pads, you have 2 gift runners. At least score one of them. eta: Runners on 1st and 2nd, nobody out, they don't score. Are you sure the Padres didn't switch with the Cubs for this game?
  10. Let me take you back to an October night in 1985... We've had our share. I'm talking last few years or so.
  11. Greene doing his best Corey Patterson and swinging at the first pitch with RISP.
  12. Defense wins championships. A bad call and a botched play = hope for the Padres
  13. Bad play by Pujols there. He should have flipped it to Carpenter. Bad call, though. He was out. But, it's the Cards getting a bad call for once, so WOOT
  14. Commercial for Jim Edmond's favorite sandwich... The "Meat-normous"
  15. Walker would remain a Cub if that were the theme. Let's hope. Todd Walker is NOT the reason we sucked this year. Not even close.
  16. Friggin Edmonds..... 1-0 Cards
  17. When the theme SHOULD be "guys who can get on base consistently". *sigh* Tell me, Cards fans. What's it like? What's it like for your team to be a contender every year? What's it like to have a GM who isn't afraid to make a move? What's it like to have seen your team in the World Series?
  18. Shocked Edmonds didn't try to dive for that one.
  19. Looking forward to the 2 AL games tonight. Would love to see Red Sox-Angels in the ALCS and keep the White Sox and Yankees out. Although I'm not from Chicago, so I don't really hate the White Sox. I guess as long as the Cardinals or the Yankees don't make the WS, I'm ok with whatever happens.
  20. I agree totally. It really irks me when people say "Oh, well it's only April. No biggie." What if you finish a game out? Then I bet that game in April that you deemed "no biggie" looms very large, doesn't it? Games count the same in April, September, or anywhere in between.
  21. And I really hope all of those "Murton doesn't have enough power to play a corner OF spot" critics are silenced.
  22. I'd say it's about win 20, lose 20. There are about 20 games a year that you're going to lose no matter what, and about 20 a year that you're going to win no matter what.
  23. Haha that would be so funny if the Cards lost in the first round to a team 2 games over .500.
  24. In 1990, a "1989 NL Eastern Division Champions" flag flew with Banks' number on the left field foul pole throughout the season. In 2004, the NL Central flag flew in the same spot on Opening Day but wasn't seen again. If the pattern held, we'd see a proper "pennant" on the foul pole for a season (or a day) and then they'd add the simple roof banner. There is a rooftop flag for each post-1904 postseason berth. They don't indicate championships or levels of advancement. The "1908' flag looks just like the "1998" flag. The original design for the new bleachers included flagpoles that presumably would have held flags for all the pennants and division titles since 1876, but the latest changes wiped them out. That would have been a laugher. "18xx" flying high atop the stadium. Would have been good for a laugh for opposing teams watching a pathetic franchise trying to celebrate anything they can. Grasping at straws, really. I tend to agree, but at what point is something too old to recognize? When everyone who was alive then is dead now.
