  1. I'd trade Pie for ARod. Of course, with our luck, Hill will be a perennial Cy Young contender, Pie will be on the all star team every year, and Corey will turn it around. And A-Rod would hit .260 and have a meltdown about halfway through the 2nd year here.
  2. Who are we talking to the Yankees about? ARod, I assume?
  3. lmao. the boston media is brutal. I'm shocked they haven't taken a shot at him yet for it, seeing as they ravaged the poor guy when he was traded.
  4. Sheff is a crybaby and a cancer, and has caused controversy pretty much wherever he has been. I'd love Matsui (hell, any of those Japanese superstars. Hendry needs to tap that market), but I very much doubt the Yanks will let him get away.
  5. It would take one of the best modern pitching staffs of the era to overcome Perez/Patterson at the top of the order.
  6. Just because I haven't done it in a while..... NOMAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
  7. I don't get why we traded him for crap on a stick the first time.
  8. Did you know: Jeter is a lifetime .314/.386/.461 hitter. For his career he's hit almost exactly that in the postseason (just slightly lower in AVG/OBP), in the divisional series he's been much better than that, but in LCS he's been much worse, and in the WS he's been a little worse. ARod is a lifetime .307/.385/.577 hitter. In the posteason overall he's .305/.401/.534 (less in the division series, better in the LCS). Choke, clutch, choke, clutch. They're fun words to use, but largely meaningless. Did you know that ARod's avg this postseason was .133 and had no homers or rbis? That's pretty terrible if you ask me especially considering the money he makes. That was a 5-game span. I'm sure I could take five consecutive games and make anyone in baseball look bad. Sample. Size. It's not all A-Rod's fault they lost that series. He didn't help, but there were other reasons. Nobody seems to mention the lack of communication in last night's game that led to the collision between Crosby and Sheffield. That was a blunder as well. A-Rod was a big part of the reason they got to the playoffs in the first place. Nobody seems to mention that, either. Just because he's the marquee name does not mean it's his fault. It's like saying Sammy is totally the reason we lost the NLCS in 2003.
  9. The Yankees could use an ARod deal to go a long way toward restocking thier pathetic farm system. They'd actually have decent prospects again.
  10. I think I'd be more accepting of your 2nd deal there, Goony. I have a gut feeling Kerry will be healthy next year, and you hate to lose a bat like ARam's under any circumstance.
  11. Well, they tried moving Sheff and he threw a fit and isn't Matsui a free agent? ARod may want a trade. I was listening to ESPN this morning and they were talking about his poor playoff performance. I'm sure the NY media will absolutely hammer him. I usually poo poo the idea of the Cubs getting anyone w/ a deal longer than 5 years, but ARod's one of the few exceptions. He may be the most marketable player in the game. The Trib will probably have more interest in him than guys who they can't really market, such as Brian Giles and Abreu. Arod, Brian Giles, Abreu... just as long as they help this team win, I could not possibly care less about thier potential "marketability" But what would we have to give up, even if the Yankees decide to move A-Rod (if they do, they're idiots, IMO).
  12. To be Nero, wouldn't Andy have to destroy the fabric of something currently great? I am not that opposed to Rothschild returning, though I would have liked a whole new coaching staff. However, there is also something to be said for a consistent approach. One of the things about the Braves is that they've been very stable, so the systems have a chance to get ingrained. The fact that many of us aren't fans of the systems being ingrained is more of an issue, I realize. I guess I'm just saying that I didn't want change just for change's sake. If we couldn't get House, Peterson or a few other particular guys, then I would just as soon stay with Larry. He's not a bad pitching coach by any means. Now Clines & Sarge, on the other hand... I want Von Joshua. Yes, but the Braves coaches are good. That tends to make a difference.
  13. Did anyone really expect anything different? This is the Cubs, after all.
  14. I don't know. Facing Clemens, Petitte, and Oswalt for possibly 6 of 7 games wouldn't be easy for anyone.
  15. The sad thing is, it's right. Is the Cubs winning the World Series one of the signs of the Apocolypse? Gotta love that St. Jude, though, even though I'm not Catholic. All Catholic Cub fans should know who St. Jude is.
  16. I missed it. Please repeat what was said.
  17. At least we'll have a "new" World Series this year. I always like seeing WS matchups that haven't happened before.
  18. The second one, of course. It won't be "how the White Sox and Angels won", it will be "How the Red Sox and Yankees lost"
  19. YANKEES LOSE!! THEEEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES LOSE!
  20. How can you get rid of guy who put up A-Rods numbers this year, especially with Texas picking up a sizeable portion of his contract? I guess you could get a mint for him in a trade, though.
  21. Come on, K-Rod. Shut them down.
  22. I thought ALCS game 1 was Wednesday.
  23. It'll be like most others. The Yankees will try to buy everyone in sight.
