  1. He is? 2005: 75.7 IP, 89/40 K/BB, 3.81 ERA (112 ERA+) but yeah, why don't we just look at his stats from 2006? much better sample.
  2. these comparisons DO NOT WORK. dlee is orders of magnitude more important to the cubs than players like rolen or chipper jones are to their respective clubs. they can survive without those players for extended periods of time. this club is going to have a lot of difficulty doing so. Not sure why the caps were necessary to drive home your point. In any case, I was only trying to spin this into a (possible) positive light, particulalry in light of the way in which the team fought back last night after Lee got hurt. Tha was very encoraging, IMO. uhh, because there are multiple people trying to make similar comparisons that simply do not apply to this situation. that's why they were necessary.

  4. exactly. we're going to struggle to score runs with lee IN the lineup - take him away, replace him with neifi 75-80% of the time (pretty sure anyone thinking hairston is going to get the starts at second is wrong), and you have an absolute abomination of a lineup.
  5. bump for the people going on and on about this in the most overpaid player thread...
  6. there's already been a huge debate on the clutch hitting topic... here
  7. hairston? good one. neifi will hit in the 2 slot.
  8. what would the cards have done if they lost pujols? because if you want to make the comparison, we just lost our pujols.
  9. maybe we can be injury free in 07!!!
  10. edmonds 1993: 62 1994: 85 1995: 128 1996: 137 1997: 124 1998: 124 1999: 94 (traded to STL) 2000: 148 2001: 150 2002: 163 2003: 161 2004: 173 2005: 136
  11. except it's all good now. but nice try - next argument, please.
  12. it figures that i was in a bar where there was no sound when this happened... time to fire up mlb.tv
  13. he didn't - i think he's confusing gerut with matt lawton.
  14. all those errors tonight really cost us
  15. nope he wasn't under contract at the time
  16. Why? Does Damon want to play LF? Hunter's much better defensively in CF than Damon. damon said he'd move to rf if they got hunter.
  17. this is the best post in this thread
  18. Or MLB.TV. I love it. I get to watch whatever games I want to. Well, except Giants and A's games because they are blacked out locally. And the Sunday night game of the week. But other than that I get to watch anything. Whereas Mississippians and North Carolinians miss the Cubs/Reds games because they're too close to Cincinnati. You got lucky. Their blackout restrictions are completely ludicrous. then use a proxy
  19. Dunn always has a chance at the record. If only Jose Hernandez was playing every day they could have a strikeout-off. dunn has the record
  20. neither of these matter much because they will still get big raises in arbitration. plus, Z becomes a free agent after next season and he will still be looking for a reasonable contract, even if he doesn't have boras as an agent.
  21. i love west coast games no class to make me miss them
  22. you realize you've been saying crap like this all through the spring and the season thusfar, right? why not just quit being so stubborn and admit that you just might be wrong? i realize that's difficult for you to do, but it's something to take into consideration. attack the post, not the poster. Anyway...the limited number of AB against ML competition makes me leary of his hot start - that's just basic statistics. You really expect him to put up those numbers in a full season? I don't. I expect decent numbers, but not great. I will be stunned if he ends up with a .900+ OPS. how is this attacking you? your argument is crap, and i'm pointing that out. the comment about you being stubborn isn't an attack - it's just pointing out what you're doing.
