  1. channel 285 is CSN+ HD for chicago comcast subscribers.
  2. 204 is the hd channel edit: 32 is the regular one
  3. What's the game score for this one? 96
  4. well that was certainly something to see. now imagine if erstad had broken it up...if you think we hear enough about his intangibles right now, hoo boy....
  5. I dont think that is enough to get that done. it's not even close to enough. o'dowd asked for the following for holliday: mets: beltran and fernando martinez (sending willy taveras back with holliday) angels: saunders or santana, plus adenhart and kendrick holliday doesn't really seem to be going anywhere...
  6. this is sad. thanks, dusty. that's about all i have to say about this.
  7. so you can take an obvious PR quote and attempt to use it to make an argument, but then attack someone else for using one? seems reasonable. GM statements are pure PR. player statements not so much. this is not hypocrisy as the honesty behind Nomars statement is far less in doubt. if you want to make a case that Nomar's statement was more PR than honest statement, be my guest. yeah, nomar is gonna say "boy, i hated boston, i'm glad to be out of that craphole." come on. if you think every statement a GM makes is a PR move, then you can't even reasonably think that nomar's statement after his trade wasn't the same thing.

  9. He's already under contract for this year and the next, isn't he? not anymore. this move makes prior a free agent after 2008. he will accrue service time from this point on, which is plenty - he only needed something like a month's worth of service time to have enough to become a free agent at the end of next season (assuming he gets service time for all of next year).
  10. I can't possibly think of two teams I loathe more than the Yankees and the White Sox. If I were at that game I would be booing constantly. uh, the cardinals?
  11. jacque jones and cliff floyd are way better out there in RF, dudes. they are awesome defenders, i'm glad they start all the time!
  12. wrong he was already ours until then. holding him down at the start of the season guaranteed it (i think it's only 2 weeks. the cubs did this to kerry wood in 98).
  13. don't patronize me. i am completely aware that we have a lot of left-handed bats (and not once did i say i wanted a right-hander in CF - i don't care. don't put words in my mouth). the fact of the matter is that pie could potentially hit them (but a moot point now that he was optioned). jones has proven over the course of his entire major league career that he can not.
  14. right. there's no need for them to announce this publicly and make a big deal out of it.
  15. please read the thread before you start mocking people. jones is useless against LHP, and if lou absolutely insists on using him against them, it's better for the team if he's somehow gone.
  16. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/2005/B07240SLN2005.htm http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1998/B09270COL1998.htm the high points of the neif dawg's career. he saved my birthday in 2005, and gave us game 163 in 1998.
  17. Yeah...ok. You can't have guys who can OPS .800+ against righties on your team! you're missing a major part of the point. jones would be fine if used properly. the problem is that lou, just like dusty, refuses to do so. that .800 OPS doesn't mean much when it comes along with a terrible line against lefties (that gives a combined OPS of 730 - that's a 92 OPS+ as of this morning).
  18. Yeah...ok. if he can't trade him, and lou decides to pull a dusty and let the "proven veteran" play while the good, promising young player rides the pine, i would much rather see jones DFA'd than be on the roster.
  19. I disagree - he's looked terrible in CF. Sadly, when Lou decides to banish Pie to the bench and run Soriano and the bronze statue of Cliff Floyd into the outfield, Jones is the best option in center - but not because he's good at it. DFAing is probably a bit extreme, but one of two things needs to happen very, very fast: 1. Jones is traded - this is the ideal. 2. Pie gets more starts and Jones never, ever ever starts against a LHP again.
  20. dude you gotta put him out there against lefties every time, he'll learn to hit them eventually! his poor performance is upsetting on several levels. it hurts the team for one, but it also makes his trade value non-existent. if only hendry would get over himself, admit his mistake, and just DFA the guy...
  21. another solid outing from jacque jones. boy am i glad he gets to start every game, especially against lefties!
  22. this club can certainly afford to let pie play over floyd/jones. as already said, it's not a choice between winning and developing young players - you can do both, which is what winning teams do.
  23. jones is exactly the type of player the A's don't want. doesn't take pitches. terrible defender (though they've had less of a problem with this part in the OF lately).
  24. Xenophobia is grand, ain't it! he's not really conveying a fear of japanese players. he's just saying he doesn't think they're very good. there is a world of difference here.
  25. there we go, hd feed back :) edit: and then disappeared immediately :( how sad
