    ehh, the way it's structured, they could trade him after this season (or definitely after 07). i think jones gets moved down in the order tomorrow night - i can't see dusty sitting him until he gets a hit. too hard on his ego.

    well, blanco almost always hit 8th when he played last year. i don't think this suggests that dusty believes the 2 hole is suited for anyone but the second baseman.

    It became a problem last year. It has never ceased to be a problem. So what was the big problem last year with him? You just hate the guy who certainly wasn't the cause of last year's failures. the problem? neifi, a terrible hitter, played in something like 130 games, batting in the 1 or 2 slot, with a sub-.300 OBP. that hurts the team immensely.

    my guess: pierre / neifi / lee / aram / jones / barrett / murton / cedeno / maddux wouldn't be surprised to see murton sitting this one out, though

    it's the third game of the season against the favorites in our division. we need all the offense we can get with maddux on the mound, especially in april. starting neifi is much more likely to hurt the team than help it (especially when he bats SECOND).

    indeed - he solidifies their outfield for the next 3 years. (funny story - a cardinals fan friend of mine actually said those exact words to me once. i laughed.)

    he was the DH for his first couple games in the majors to ease him in. he played 1 game in LF (AdjG 0.8), 13 at 3B (AdjG 11.7), and 16 at SS (AdjG 15.9).
