  1. this has got to be a joke. you're not afraid of a healthy kerry wood? (remember, this is assuming health).
  2. I think that if Pie is ready, Pierre is gone. That is, unless the Cubs can find a taker for Mr. Jones' contract.
  3. While I'd like to think this is correct, I just can't bring myself to believe it. With all the talking this team has done about "guys who catch the ball," I just can't see Walker having a fair shot at winning the 2B job. Really, the guy shouldn't even need to be fighting for a starting job - he's far and away the best option we have at 2B - but the inept management of this team has alienated one of our best hitters, who they will likely get rid of so we can play a guy who can "catch the ball." I really hope you're right - if Walker can earn the job with his bat (which he should certainly be able to do), I will be fine with this "competition." I just don't see it being fair.
  4. is it just me or does it look like he threw the pitch with his right arm in the first picture?
  5. his throws tail in to the runner, remember? "it just isn't true enough" ronny cedeno: the man with the false throw.
  6. I don't see how this is a big gamble by the Indians. How much regression do you expect from Peralta that he won't be worth ~12.8M in 3 arbitration years? Weren't we just talking about Angel Berroa in the DeJesus thread? i don't think berroa was as highly regarded coming up as peralta was. peralta is the real deal - berroa was never considered that, i believe.
  7. are you saying that errors and fielding percentage are legitimate defensive metrics? come on. cedeno is a very good fielder (though neifi was quite good last year, as well). however, cedeno is going to provide a lot more runs from the offensive standpoint - quite a bit more, i suspect, than neifi would provide over cedeno on defense.
  8. wrong
  9. hendry has publicly stated that neifi is not an everyday player - saying he'll play 140 games is stretching it, i think. i really hope that if dusty tried to put him in the lineup every day, hendry would step in.
  10. this is a fantastic deal. peralta agreed to accept less money than he probably could have, and now the indians lock up a rising young star for all of his arbitration years plus have the option of keeping him for a seventh.
  11. sing, then pagan, then grissom.
  12. he better stay out of WHITE SOX business.
  13. Or...... it doesn't mean anything, other than the fact that he's trying to add to his arsenal. Or it could be his excuse why he got lit up by a split squad of Marlins who already don't have much fire power. Yup. Season's over for the Cards, clearly. nice inference. obviously he meant that because reyes got destroyed by the marlins' split squad, the cardinals' season is over.
  14. "I'm going to keep saying I don't know if I'm going to retire in order to keep myself in the spotlight as long as possible."
  15. Why would you want Dopirak on the major league bench? The guy struggled in the FSL last season. He's still young and inexperienced, plus, he only plays first. You don't waste roster spots on bench players who can only play first. Sing is a much better candidate for that role. I agree....replace Dope with Sing. The only problem with Sing is that he's not on the 40 Man, correct? it's the same problem with grissom - it's pretty likely that someone who fills that 25th man slot is going to take someone's 40-man place.
  16. dlee is the only reason i am even watching this. i'm glad i did. boy i miss baseball.
  17. easily? I would argue that there's no way that's going to be "easy."
  18. i was pretty glad when he signed with detroit, neglecting to even visit chicago before making a decision. something like this was bound to happen - i feel bad for the guy, but i'm glad it didn't happen while he was in a cubs uniform.
  19. if they insist on doing the stretch, i'd rather it be santo than jeff gordon.
  20. wow, based on some hearsay? that's a pretty quick judgment.
  21. great news
  22. i really want to get this, but i just can't justify paying that much for it when i'm moving out of my apartment in early august...

    TV Schedule

is there a tv schedule for spring training games out? or are televised st games going to become a thing of the past because of the wbc?
  24. you need a proxy - i think it needs to support a secure connection, as well.
