  1. because it's on comcast, and thus national broadcasts of the same game are blacked out
  2. the one they showed on BBTN was nasty. there were a lot more like that one, too
  3. mccarthy isn't stretched enough to start.
  4. not on 40 man There are worthless guys who are, and can be removed. obviously, but hendry doesn't see it this way. or at least it doesn't appear so.
  5. i liked it, for the most part i just don't see why we need a new thread every time the cubs are mentioned in a new strip - or why every post about it needs to turn into a "this is my favorite one!" thread
  6. oh no, not larry bigbie! and it's not like pujols hasn't been carrying the entire team himself. that team is not near the record they have now if he isn't playing out of his mind. by the way, pujols has missed one game. one.
  7. giving a little praise to a guy he hit a bomb off of is class? streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetching......
  8. Like I said last night. Neifi struck out to allow Maddux to walk in a run. He was just trying to save us again, by NOT GIDP. The pop-up was the greatest contribution we could have expected from Neifi. I was so happy he didn't GIDP that just having one out was reason to celebrate. i'm glad i wasn't the only one. he gave us his patented gidp later, though.
  9. umm, where are these evaluations coming from? i'm going to have a really hard time trusting anything you say about hill if, apparently, the only two potential outcomes of his career are ace and complete bust.
  10. ugh i hope they're not considering sending pitching to arizona for clark when they can have carlos pena for nothing tomorrow...
  11. .240/.349/.437/.786, Choi's career numbers Can you reasonably expect Clark to do much better? No, you can't. Especially when you realize 2005 Clark had "Huge Freaking Anomaly" written all over him. Clark is not an anamoly. He has had several seasons where his OBP was over .350 (about five or six, IIRC). 4 of .350+, not counting 2005. the last of those seasons was also in 2001, after which he put up obps of: .265, .300, .297. 2005 was a huge spike in numbers that can't be expected to be even close to repeated.
  12. i have an all-day event to go to, so i'm hoping for the rainout sorry everyone ;) if not, go cubs!
  13. they'll keep him at pawtucket because he has an option left. they have no real reason to get rid of him - at least not unless it was made worth their while (read: overpaying).
  14. this isn't true. there's plenty of disagreement on here. those that blatantly attack the other posters over and over are eventually banned, but you're not banned for disagreeing with someone.
  15. perhaps there's a contest one of us can win, allowing us to become GM/owner for a day, and we can sign a bunch of bad contracts, forcing you to unload dead weight like bay ;)
  16. you'll find plenty of optimism here right now - but there are still things to critique. we're 3-2 in games zambrano has started, and that's all that matters.
  17. it's not close to 100%, and this is why sabermetrics is such an interesting field. there's still so much to learn about the game through stats.
  18. yep, he said he was "indifferent" though
  19. somewhat related - does anyone else think neifi has one of the ugliest swings in baseball? everytime he takes a cut, i want to vomit.
  20. i'll take 48
  21. it was lovely. lidge has had no control since the WBC. it's nice to see it finally catch up to him.
  22. Williams. Had. Two. Bad. Outings. Have fun in Iowa, Jerome. You. Don't. Know. What. You're. Talking. About.
