DISCLAIMER: TO ALL NEW PEOPLE

CPATERSON20 HAS NOTHING AGAINST YOU. DON'T GET UPSET. THIS IS A JOKE. THE POST WILL AUTOMATICALLY PUT IN YOUR NAME. IT IS KIND OF LIKE A MAD LIB.

You can go back to laughing at the Dodgers now.

They are paying Furcal and Drew 25 million dollars a year for the next four years

I certainly fell for it!

And in regards to the second half of your post, I'd take J.D. off their hands.

Where's the evidence that Hendry put all his eggs into Furcal's basket?? Do we have Jim Hendry's a Moran Strawman #1400? :o

No, but that may be your 1400th post needlessly bashing other posters while thinking that emoticon means something though.

Not signing Furcal doesn't = stopgaps everywhere, that's a strawman argument itself for crying out loud. Trade for Bradley, get an Abreu, Wilkerson, Dunn, Gomes, etc., and maybe let Cedeno play SS. Where's the stopgap?

Bashing?? Now that's a strawman.

Nice disregard for your buddy's hyperbole. Consistent.

you clearly don't understand what a "straw man" argument is. No one is fabricating a position that you or hendry has taken, therefore there are no straw men here.

I hope Nomar goes back to the AL because I think he is very capable of putting up some great offensive numbers (if healthy) and I would hate for him to do it against the Cubs.

I just now read the post you were referring too. But this crap is what I'm talking about. The point is made when you question whether "Hendry put all his eggs into Furcal's basket". It's a valid point, I don't have a strong opinion one way or another. But you continually try to act victimized like one side of the argument is always at fault for not being perfect, and it really needs to stop. Make the point you want to make, stop there, don't attack the poster.

"Victimized" = strawman

I said the argument was a strawman argument. How the f did I "attack" the poster?? Don't spin off your chair friend w/ such accusations.

It's considered an attack because someone is obviously offended. A perfectly fine baseball discussion once again ruined with back and forth personal crap. I just warned you 3 days ago that this has got to stop!

It will stop, one way or another!

from the pittsburgh post gazette...

Garciaparra's value for now is seen in the $5 million range, but that could soar based on a team's need, which is why Tellem is thought to be willfully delaying a decision, perhaps until January. Already, Tellem has felt bold enough to tell the Yankees he is not interested in a deal shorter than four years.

I don't believe it. [-(

I'll be sure to call every argument I see as flawed "Hendry defender strawman # X", and see the response that I get.

If they're grown men, I'm sure they can take it and not get all sensitive.

So while we're disregarding people, we'll just call everyone who they feel applies whiny, stupid, arrogant, etc. Oh well, at least we'll finally be able to call out [you] for being a jerk all the time.

finally!

:?:

I'm confused

Edit: I should really read the entire thread before posting.

Wow, more non-baseball discussion in the transactions forum. That really doesn't surprise me anymore. That's sad.

I don't get the "Nomar wont be back cause Hendry treated him like crap" argument. Hendry simply told Nomar to seek employment elsewhere and that the Cubs were looking in another direction. Isn't that a lot better than NOT telling him anything and leaving Nomar in the dark? Nomar is a professional baseball player and surely realizes the injury risk that he is - he can't be surprised that a team would prefer a younger, faster, more reliable option than him. If that option doesn't pan out though, Nomar can't be bitter and refuse to deal with Hendry. If he is, well, I hope he has fun playing in Pittsburgh.

So you think that we didn't use the old formula match + gas + burnt bridge with Nomar?

Interesting intrepretation once again. That's a pretty low bar to set.
