I have no problem with Trot in RF, but not at 7.5 mil per year. He really hasn't gotten alot of chances against LH pitchers over his career, but I suppose that's because when he does, he hasn't shown he can handle them.

 

The injuries are something I really have a problem with though - we just can't afford to sign another guy with that kind of injury history.

 

He'd be an excellent plattoon RF if he was only making around 3-5mil per year and we could find a RH outfielder to play against the lefties.

 

As far as Corey in Boston - all I can say is he better come out smoking or he'll think Chicago fans were a walk in the park!!!!

Nixon in RF is only acceptable to me if we upgrade CF. If we go 2nd tier in RF, we can't settle for Corey in center. If we got Pierre/Bradley/hell Lofton in CF, I can live with Nixon. Presuming we also sign a lefty smasher who also plays RF to be the 4th OF...

You have to figure that Hendry is on the phones with Florida right now throwing tons of prospects for Pierre, so we're definitely going to need a big bat in RF. I don't think Nixon/Mench can be considered this.

Eh, Pierre can be acceptable with a 2nd tier bat in right field, under the right circumstances. Such as, the following is acceptable to me

Hendry needs to throw the farm at Philly for Abreu, and sign Lofton at this point. Those two moves would solve an awful lot of problems. Lofton, Walker, Lee, Abreu and Ramirez 1-5 would look awfully nice.

I think that Trot is an excellent option and one that could come without much of a challenge. Corey for Trot and a AA prospect would be fair.
