The Score is saying that Phil Rogers has a report in the Sunday edition of the paper that the Cubs have a 3-way going with Oakland and Texas in which they trade Wood, Walker, $6million, and prospects and will end up with Zito, Mench and Soriano.

Discuss.

At no time did The Score report that Soriano was coming to the Cubs. In fact, they never mentioned Soriano's name at all. Certainly someone in Sugar Land can look into your computer for the source of these imaginary reports.

That's not exactly true. Soriano's name was mentioned both by the hosts and callers. However, Laurence Holmes corrected the caller and said, according to the rumor, Soriano would go to Oakland and not Chicago.

I wish Bruce Miles had his own show.

No one would listen because he wouldn't report bogus and "exciting" trade proposals.

The Score always has these stupid reports which force people to listen.

NSBB Poster: The Score just reported (insert trade so ridiculous, you'd have to hear it to believe it was actually reported)

Us: No way! I'm gonna listen! (Tune in)... That's so stupid!

It's gotta be some brilliant marketing strategy

The Score seems to think that Hendry might be listening to their broadcasts, be overwhelmed by the intelligence of such insightful and great moves, and decide to go and make them happen. Kind of like that James Bond movie where the media guy was trying to make the news, instead of just report it.

Is anybody else listening to the Score? They just said the Cubs may have finally found a taker for Kerry Wood. Does this mean they have been actively shopping him in the offseason? They make it sound like more than just Phil Roger's fantasy.

Wonder if Bruce has the inside scoop?

Typical from the score, I just read the article and there is nothing in it about a trade. Phil says that the Cubs MAY make a pitch for Burnett, which would then possibly make Wood available. He's speculating on that, then it says Beane might be interested in Soriano and then the Cubs could possibly trade him for Zito. The damn score didn't even buy the paper!!

You read the article that's not in the paper until tomorrow :?: :!: :?: :!: :?:

Maybe where YOU live they don't sell the early edition of the Sunday paper on Saturday, he here in the big city, it comes out Saturday morning.

Yes, but the sports section is usually held back until Sunday or else your Sunday paper doesn't have Saturday's scores in it.

They release the Sunday sports section on Sat., it obviously doesn't include scores, but has the feature articles on all subjects which were handed in earlier in the week.

The columns are in it. I don't care about the scores, I get that on the net. So where you are they sell a paper without the sports section? Where the heck are you?

I can't speculate how credible this proposed trade is, but it makes a great deal of sense for the Cubs. Since Hendry has locked up Dempster, Eyre, and Howry for three years, the Cubs can't develop Wood as a closer if he doesn't respond well to surgery. Mench would be a very cheap, productive RF (Abreu's numbers without the walks), and Zito would give the Cubs a LH starter who gives the Cubs 200 innings per year.

As for the Rangers, they get a starter or closer, depending on Wood's recovery. Given the current price for a closer, Wood's salary wouldn't be out of line. If he gets his act together, he'll be a God send for Texas.
