The Score is saying that Phil Rogers has a report in the Sunday edition of the paper that the Cubs have a 3-way going with Oakland and Texas in which they trade Wood, Walker, $6million, and prospects and will end up with Zito, Mench and Soriano.

I think the Cubs only end up with Zito and Mench according to the report and the A's get Soriano. Don't understand why the Cubs would make that trade unless they got Furcal and Pierre in the bag.

I like parts of that deal - namely that the Cubs end up with Zito and Soriano, and jettison Wood. Oakland must be getting some excellent prospects.

More fantasy from good old Phil. I think he spends his time making up trades all by himself. Why would anyone trade for a pitcher who JUST had shoulder surgery and hasn't thrown yet? More nonsense from the worst baseball guy in the city.

Texas is in need of pitching, and getting the home state kid would be probably well received.

I'm not sure I understand why Oakland would make that deal. Soriano is a Hendry-type player, not Beane-type. Plus, hasn't Mark Ellis turned the corner?

I believe the A's will trade Zito (not that they have to from a budget standpoint), but they will demand 2-3 top prospects.

I could see Zito to Texas, Soriano and Mench to the Cubs, and some great young talent sent to Oakland.

If Soriano goes to the A's and not the Cubs, I would imagine that Soriano would be on his way to the Dodgers for Bradley and possibly others.

I'd be shocked if that was anything more than lazy journalism by Rogers. There's not a Cub on the 25 man that has less value than the recently operated on Wood.

Hmm, does anyone remember if there's some sort of clause with Wood about whether or not he can be traded?

Yeah, I've seen Soriano's name mentioned in many rumors this offseason. Can anyone explain why he has such high trade value?

And their first child is due in January, I believe. I don't think going to Texas would be a desired move right now.

So the Rangers trade Soriano and Mench for prospects, when they don't really have a replacement for either? The A's trade Zito for Soriano, when they have the superior-in-every-way Ellis at 2B?

The Rangers do get a big name pitcher though and doesn't Young play 2b?

no, that's crazy.

Is anybody else listening to the Score? They just said the Cubs may have finally found a taker for Kerry Wood. Does this mean they have been actively shopping him in the offseason? They make it sound like more than just Phil Roger's fantasy.

Wonder if Bruce has the inside scoop?

We get Zito in the proposed deal. They could move Young back to 2B, but what does that solve? Now they have a hole at SS.

EDIT: Forgot about Wood.

I can't imagine Beane wanting Soriano in the first place unless he was going to flip him elsewhere immediately.
